Ezra Miller’s Flash future might not come to an end with DC Studios’ co-CEO James Gunn‘s controversial reboot. At least not yet. On January 13, we reported that Ezra Miller’s time in the DCU was uncertain.
There are two ways to interpret that. On one hand, there’s a strong chance that Warner Bros. Discovery could cut Ezra Miller loose. After all, their list of legal difficulties would give Matt Murdock a headache. Without a doubt, Warner Bros. Discovery would be justified in recasting the Flash.
In fact, the general public might agree with that.
In September 2022, a Morning Consult survey found that nearly 50% wanted The Flash cancelled. As in the movie itself. In other words, throw the baby out with the bath water. Certainly, that won’t happen. WBD CEO David Zaslav won’t absorb a $200 million kick in the groin. Indeed, turning the poorly received Batgirl into a tax martyr was painful enough.
And they’re not the same.

WBD felt Batgirl was like a red-hot boil that must not been seen during a date. Hide it from view. Pretend it never existed.
Some many feel that The Flash is a brand killer because of Ezra Miller’s toxic PR. On the contrary, The Flash continues to acquire massive praise behind the scenes. Even Gunn claimed “Flash is probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.”
Therefore, what would you if the audiences felt the same? And took the movie to $1 billion globally. We posed that question before. We said:
“Insiders tell us that Warner Bros. Discovery hasn’t made a final decision on Miller yet. After all, they bought a pricey Super Bowl ad for The Flash. Obviously, they have tremendous faith in it. And if it succeeds big time, what then? You drop the star of a rare blockbuster for a DC property? DC Studios is thirsty for a hit. The Flash could be that smash.”
Gunn may have initially wanted a full reboot, but that looks unlikely. On Twitter, Gunn revealed:
“Flash resets many things, not all things. Some characters remain the same some do not.”
Gunn removed Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman. That sounds like former DC Films’ president Walter Hamada’s original plan.

In other words, this isn’t a full makeover; rather, it’s a Hamada burger with pickles instead of onions.
Sources tell me that Ezra Miller stays as the Flash if the movie performs exceedingly well. Obviously, they have to remain out of trouble.
Nevertheless, Miller could keep running after the film leaves theaters.
