Katee Sackhoff has expressed interest in portraying classic Batman villain Poison Ivy in James Gunn’s DCU, but feels that Karen Gillan is more likely to be cast. Without a doubt, Batman’s rogues gallery is easily the most iconic and diverse of any superhero to date.
In addition to his more renowned foes like the Joker, Two-Face and the Penguin, the Dark Knight has fought against supernatural psychopaths and deranged super-powered villains. Most notably the seemingly invincible Ra’s Al Ghul and the unstoppable brute Bane.
Nonetheless, one of the more deadly and in all honesty, alluring of Batman’s adversaries is the former botanist and biochemist turned eco-terrorist Poison Ivy. Following a murder attempt from her employer Marc LeGrand, Dr. Pamela Isley develops an immunity to all natural toxins and diseases as well as the ability to control and communicate with plant life.

Moreover, she also has the power to seduce and kill any poor soul with her pheromones and poisonous kiss. With a desire to wipe out the human race and make plants the dominant species of the Earth, she becomes the supervillain known as Poison Ivy.
She was one of the main antagonists of the infamous 1997 film Batman & Robin and was portrayed by Uma Thurman. Furthermore, Bo-Katan actress Katee Sackhoff has recently expressed a strong interest in portraying the character in Gunn’s DCU.
Katee Sackoff is no stranger to the world of DC after appearing in the hit CW superhero TV series The Flash as the super-powered crime lord Amunet Black. However, when asked about potentially taking on the role, Katee Sackhoff explained that she felt her chances were slim.
She also brought up Gillan’s desire to play Poison Ivy and claimed that the MCU actress is more likely to get the role given that she’s worked with Gunn on the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Speaking to Cinemablend, the actress said:
“No, I haven’t [talked to James Gunn], listen, I saw Karen Gillan wants to play her, too. And, like, she’s got a closer ‘in’ than I do, so I feel like that’s a given. I feel like I’ve got no horse in that race if Karen wants to play that character, but God, I love her. I can’t be mad at her. She’s fantastic, and I love her dearly, so I still would love to, for sure.”

With Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn guaranteed to make a comeback in the DCU, fans really want to see her partner in crime alongside her.
Katee Sackhoff and Gillan are both ideal choices for the role.
Both actresses are genre icons, no doubt.
So should either get cast it would be a huge win.
