Marvel Studios Chief Kevin Feige Teases More Mutants

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says that we should be expecting more mutants coming into the MCU. Was that really a surprise? No, not really. The question we need to get an answer is who is coming next and when? And most importantly, when are the MCU’s X-Men coming?

The latest Comic-Con Experience 2022 in Brazil showcased the latest in the MCU, which is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. During a Q&A someone asked Kevin Feige when we will see more iconic mutants into the MCU, and he says:

We’ve already met a few. There’s a new mutant named Namor that you might’ve met recently. So, more to come.

The mutants have been teased, and technically, with the appearance of Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, got their spotlight. Can we really count Ms. Marvel as a mutant? Actually, she is. In fact, the X-Men animated theme in Ms. Marvel emphasized it when the show revealed that she was. But that actually felt like a twist that fans of the Marvel Universe weren’t expecting. Ms. Marvel is still an Inhuman in the comics.

Do we consider Professor X from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? Does he count? The movie did show him to be a member of the Illuminati just like in the comics. But he’s not the same Xavier from Fox’s movies. He’s a lot more similar to the one from cartoons and comics. The dead giveaway is the hover chair. But we all know what happened to that Professor X. Furthermore, he is not from the known MCU, which is Earth-616.

Meanwhile, there is the rumor of Emilia Clarke playing Abigail Brand in the upcoming Secret Invasion. This was reported by Geekosity owner Mikey Sutton. If she is Brand, then she is a mutant. In the comics, Brand debuted in Astonishing X-Men No. 3. At the moment, she’s the closest one that we may get as one of the X-Men.

Together with these, let’s not forget that Deadpool and Wolverine are coming. And as far as everyone knows, this new movie is in the MCU. So far, Deadpool is the only one jumping from the known X-Men universe from 20th Century Fox to the MCU. That is something exciting, no questions asked.

Although we don’t know how long Hugh Jackman will keep playing Wolverine. For now, we can only presume that this could be his ‘one last time’ shot. Since Marvel Studios wants more films with Wolverine, we know they are looking for someone younger. Also, there has been rumors that Deadpool 3 will be packed with other mutants from Fox. Would any of them jump into the MCU, too?

Marvel Studios is obviously in high gear in adding mutants to the MCU. Kevin Feige and his team are just not rushing it. Feige wants to take their time and introduce them slowly.
