Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Discusses Possibility Of X-Men’s Storm

Written By Kieran Bugg

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever producer Nate Moore discussed Storm’s possibility in the franchise. After years of waiting, mutants begin to slowly enter the MCU. We got our first taste with Patrick Stewart’s return as Professor X. Stewart returned to his iconic role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

On the other hand, it wasn’t the same Professor X from Fox’s X-Men films. After all, he died in Logan.

Speaking of which, Hugh Jackman comes back alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool in his third movie.

Nevertheless, Ms. Marvel‘s season finale on Disney Plus revealed that Kamala Khan is a mutant. This made her the first official mutant in the main MCU timeline. Moreover, another mutant just made his debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Namor The Sub-Mariner.

No doubt even more characters with the mutant gene will be making their first appearances throughout Phase Five and Six. One that fans are hoping to see in a potential Black Panther sequel or Wakanda Disney Plus series is Storm. Writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum co-created Storm. She debuted in Giant-Size X-Men No. in 1975.

Since then, two actresses played Storm in the movies. These include Halle Berry, beginning with 2000’s X-Men. Alexandra Shipp then portrayed her younger version, starting with 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse. Storm has historical importance similar to Black Panther. She broke new ground as a female superhero of African descent.

Storm has the ability to control the weather and atmosphere. Without a doubt, she is incredibly powerful.

In the comics, Storm has major ties to Wakanda. In Black Panther No. 18, Storm married her King T’Challa, and became the country’s new Queen. Sadly, with the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman, we’ll not see this storyline adapted into the MCU. Perhaps not exactly like it happened. The following contains a spoiler for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

T’Challa actually left a son, Toussaint. His Wakandan name is T’Challa. You see where this is going.

Therefore, this sets up a future relationship with Storm and that T’Challa when he grows up. It might not take that long with time-traveling Kang (Jonathan Majors).

In a recent interview, Moore revealed:

Well, Storm’s relationship with Wakanda in publishing is pretty interesting, obviously, we might be a few years out from the X-Men, so I’m not sure we’re there yet.

Yes, not yet.

Nonetheless, Moore didn’t rule out other characters with ties to Wakanda being introduced.

He added:

Who else from Wakanda have we not introduced? I mean, there’s a pretty deep bench, actually, and especially, I think, Ta-Nehisi’s run introduced a lot of key characters that would be fun to export. Even characters like Vibraxas, which are more Fantastic Four characters. But yeah, it’s a pretty deep bench. I think there’s a lot more stories to tell on Wakanda for sure.

Hopefully, once Marvel Studios starts introducing the X-Men, Storm will be among some of the first.
