Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah were not aware of Ms Marvel’s mutant reveal until the script arrived.

Welcome to Marvel Studios’ secrecy. In the comics, Kamala Khan is an Inhuman and not a mutant. Obviously, Marvel Studios drives the MCU narrative to the X-Men.

Everyone, fasten your seat belts. The following contains spoilers for Ms. Marvel‘s season finale.

Although for years, fans have argued that both have similar attributes, they still develop differently. One has the powers triggered by puberty and the other is by Terrigen Mist exposure.

Some say mutants are the next level of evolution which is natural while Inhumans are experiments of the Kree which makes them unnatural. In addition, discrimination and ridicule follow the mutants everywhere.

On the other hand, the Inhumans have the idea that they are of a different, albeit superior, race than humans. The Inhumans follow a royal family. Also, the Inhumans are aware of the vast stories in other galaxies.

For the MCU having Ms. Marvel’s genes with “some sort of mutation,” it actually pushes the Inhumans back again. Universe 616 suddenly has the mutant gene. However, viewers still have yet to hear about the Terrigen Mist or Lockjaw.

With all of this happening, are the Inhumans really just on the other side of the moon? Are they truly coming forward and becoming part of universe 616? With Universe 838, there is no question because of Black Bolt’s momentary presence. rest his Inhuman soul.

Just don’t ask Ms. Marvel‘s directors. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige keeps them in the dark. After the script came, they were confused. Fallah explained:

So, when we had it, we asked, ‘What’s that about? What’s going to happen?’ And Kevin Feige would say, ‘Just shoot this, put the little music on and that’s that. Should you be part of the future of Ms. Marvel, then you’ll know a little bit more.’ Kevin Feige has the master plan. He’s the only one who knows.

Evidently, Marvel Studios chose Ms. Marvel to be a mutant for a specific reason. Eventually, they’ll unveil what it is. Mist or no mist, Inhuman or mutant, Ms. Marvel has powers not like a regular person would have. Ms. Marvel Season One is done. It successfully told about her origin.

On the other hand, it’s far from over; her tale is just beginning.

Indeed, the MCU has established the intricate groundwork that allows for “anything goes” because: Multiverse.

Having them say anything is possible somehow just tells the fandom “speculate all you want!”

Is it really such a big deal, though? Whether Ms. Marvel is a mutant or an Inhuman, would there be a difference? If there is, which of the two bears more stories to tell? Which one has better progression as to how MCU plans to move forward?

Ms. Marvel is self-secure. She is secure enough to charge forward. To her, mutant is simply just another label. And a label does not define her.
