Wesley Snipes' Blade Rumored For Avengers Secret Wars

Wesley Snipes will return as Blade in Deadpool 3. According to sources, Wesley Snipes will make his MCU debut as the vampire hunter. Two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will play Blade in Marvel Studios’ upcoming reboot. Thus, Deadpool 3 becomes Marvel Studios’ way of saying goodbye to Wesley Snipes’ Blade.

Therefore, Wesley Snipes could join Deadpool 3‘s roster of pre-MCU Marvel veterans either now confirmed (Jennifer Garner’s Elektra); teased Halle Berry’s Storm); or rumored (Ben Affleck’s Daredevil).

While most of the guest appearances being leaked have roots in Fox’s Marvel films, Wesley Snipes’ Blade is from New Line Cinema.

Wesley Snipes starred in 1998’s Blade.

With its modest $45 million budget, Blade earned $131.2 million worldwide. At the time, Marvel Comics had the worst luck in getting live-action adaptations to the silver screen.

1986’s Howard the Duck was a critical and commercial disaster. It may have found a small cult following now for those with a fondness for ’80s cheese, but it was widely considered as among the decade’s worst efforts.

Other movies such as 1989’s The Punisher and 1990’s Captain America went straight-to-video. 1994’s The Fantastic Four remained a grainy bootleg tape sold at comics conventions.

Blade turned into the Big Bang for Marvel’s cinematic universes, opening the doors for Sony and Fox to pave the way for the MCU.

In fact, Blade was successful enough to spawn two sequels, 2002’s Blade II and 2004’s Blade: Trinity.

Blade: Trinity ended the trilogy on a bad note, receiving poor reviews. Nevertheless, it marked the Marvel debut of Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds reunites with Snipes in Deadpool 3. But in this multiverse movie, how Blade fits into it is unknown. Certainly, he doesn’t fit into the narrative of this film as adapting the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe comic book with Fox in the crosshairs.

Snipes was the subject of gossip for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It never happened. Deadpool 3 will make up for it.
