Blade Reboot Receives A Promising Update From Kevin Feige

After multiple delays, Marvel Studio’s upcoming Blade reboot has received a promising filming update from Kevin Feige. Marvel Studio’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con back in 2019 left fans worldwide feeling stunned and excited for the future.

Hot off the heels of Avengers: Endgame’s colossal success, Kevin Feige revealed the full slate of projects for Phase Four. In addition, the producer also gave a brief glimpse at what’s to come in Phases Five and Six of the MCU.

Two projects were officially announced.

The first which was confirmed to be in development was a reboot of the Fantastic Four. This movie will finally bring Marvel’s first family into the fold.

It’s currently set to be the first entry of Phase Six. Nonetheless, the final project to be announced was not only the most unexpected but also the most exciting.

Out of nowhere, Oscar winning actor Mahershala Ali walked onto the stage and revealed that he would be portraying Blade. No one anticipated this happening.

Moreover, it turns out that not even Kevin Feige was planning on making a Blade reboot before hand. The MCU mastermind revealed that the movie was only green-lit after Ali asked if he could be the next Daywalker.

Since then, production for Blade has been pretty turbulent.

Multiple filming delays and re-writes have plagued the movie which has reportedly caused frustration for Mahershala Ali. Furthermore, Bassam Tariq who’d been hired to direct ultimately stepped down due to the constant production shifts.

Nevertheless he will remain on the film as an executive producer. A couple of months later, Deadline revealed that Yann Demange would take over as director.

Moreover, Michael Starrbury would also be penning the new script. However there’s since been no confirmation on when we can expect Blade to start filming.

Until now.

Recently while talking with Variety, Kevin Feige provided an optimistic update on the movie’s production.

He revealed:

“It’s going well, our director Yann [Demange] is down in Atlanta right now. Cameras roll in, like, the next 10 weeks or so.”

This would mean that filming will commence around the end of May. With Demange already in Atlanta, it’s likely that sets are already being built and even more characters are being cast.

So far the plot for the film has been kept firmly under wraps. Once filming commences we should finally begin to find out what’ll be in store for Blade’s first MCU outing.

So expect to hear story details in the coming weeks.
