Jason Momoa Seemingly Hints At Zack Snyder's Return To DC

Warner Bros. executives Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy approved the IMAX screening of The Snyder Cut. On April 30, Universal Citywalk will present an IMAX showing of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. However, don’t even attempt to purchase tickets; they sold out in about five minutes on Friday, March 24. Some may assume that DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn gave the thumbs up on The Snyder Cut in IMAX. That doesn’t sound like the case.

Somebody at Warner Bros. had to pull the trigger, and I don’t get the feeling Gunn had any bullets.

On one hand, Gunn’s position on the matter is unknown. Was he for it or against it? Gunn is quite active on Twitter. While reportedly mapping out the future of the DCU, he regularly logs onto Twitter to offer quick, sometimes vague answers to fan’s questions or insult people who he claims are lying about his plans. The latter has DC followers questioning now with Ben Affleck and Zack Snyder saying otherwise to Gunn’s previous comments.

However, Gunn has remained oddly silent about the upcoming three-day Snyder Con.

On the surface, the event allows Snyder to thank his legion of fans in person. Snyder Con takes place from April 28-30. The first two days will show the director’s Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. He did something similar on March 22-24, 2019. But Snyder Con will actually raise for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Autumn Snyder Tribute Fund.

Snyder’s daughter Autumn took her own life on March 2017. She was only 20. He dedicated The Snyder Cut to her.

In any case, when Snyder thanked Warner Bros. during a recent YouTube interview, he didn’t credit Gunn for allowing these theatrical presentations. Instead, he name-dropped De Luca and Abdy, co-chairpersons and CEOs of Warner Bros. Pictures Group. Specifically, Snyder stated:

“The event would not have happened at all…if it wasn’t for Pam and Mike. Those are the guys who said, ‘Yes, we want to do it.'”

I have sung the praises of De Luca since last year. In May, De Luca was in the running to head the then-called DC Films. De Luca’s history with DC movies has its origins in 2018. Warner Bros. hired De Luca to co-produce Suicide Squad 2 with frequent Snyder collaborator Charles Roven. This was supposed to be the sequel to David Ayer’s butchered version of Suicide Squad.

It was De Luca who agreed for Henry Cavill to return as Superman in Black Adam. Furthermore, De Luca wanted to bring back Cavill for Man of Steel 2. In addition, De Luca planned to develop Justice League 2 with the SnyderVerse cast.

Gunn threw those ideas overboard with his reboot. Given De Luca’s empathy towards the SnyderVerse, it’s no surprise Warner Bros. gave permission for Snyder’s DC movies to be shown.

It makes one wonder what would’ve happened if Warner Bros. Discovery made him DC Studios’ chief instead.
