Ben Affleck In Talks To Direct A DC Movie

Ben Affleck has denied James Gunn’s Twitter comments about him wanting to direct a movie for DC Studios. In fact, he wasn’t even subtle about it. You could hear the intensity of Ben Affleck’s voice through his words. Thus, it has fans questioning of DC Studios co-CEO’s Gunn’s continuous claims that he doesn’t lie to the fans.

Gunn has repeatedly accused of various media personnel of lying. Although Ben Affleck was diplomatic in his statements, the message was received. The tables are turned. It looks like The Bearded One is not the paragon of truth he’s often stated he was.

It’s been a roller coaster ride behind-the-scenes over at DC. Not just its leadership but also its stars. One minute, Henry Cavill was set to reprise his role as Superman for multiple films. The next minute, it’s announced that the character will sadly be recast for DC Studios co-CEO Gunn’s upcoming reboot, Superman: Legacy.

Moreover, a similar occurrence has also happened with Ben Affleck as Batman. YouTube personality Syl Abdul was the first to report that Ben Affleck would be appearing in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. This scoop was confirmed the very next day by none other than Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa.

Momoa shared a live video via his Instagram from the film’s set during reshoots revealing the Batman actor’s inclusion.

Nonetheless, it’s looking like his role in the upcoming sequel has unfortunately been left on the cutting room floor. This decision most likely came from Gunn following his installation as DC Studios co-CEO.

After all, he would later announce that he was planning his own Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold. Furthermore, just like Superman, the role will be played by a completely new and much younger actor.

Needless to say, the emotions of DC fans across the world have been exhausted at this point. Following the announcement of the DCU first slate of projects, Gunn took to Twitter to answer questions from fans.

One user brought up the matter of Ben Affleck’s future with the franchise.

Gunn response was:

“Met with Ben yesterday precisely because he wants to direct & we want him to direct; we just have to find the right project.”

This led to speculation that Ben Affleck could potentially direct Gunn’s planned Batman movie. The actor was originally hired to direct his own solo movie for Zack Snyder’s DCEU. However, Ben Affleck has recently denied wanting to direct any project for DC Studios.

In a recent piece published by The Hollywood Reporter, the actor gave a lengthy interview about his career. In addition, he offered some insight into his time over at DC.

Affleck praised his work with Snyder while also recalling the horrendous Justice League reshoots under Joss Whedon. When asked if he would direct anything for DC Studios under Gunn’s leadership, his response was:

“I would not direct something for the [James] Gunn DC. Absolutely not. I have nothing against James Gunn. Nice guy, sure he’s going to do a great job. I just wouldn’t want to go in and direct in the way they’re doing that. I’m not interested in that.”

Fans have been accusing the filmmaker of lying recently in regards to various inconsistent comments.

He responded to these allegations via Twitter saying:

“For years it’s been my commitment to the fans that I will never lie to them… and I never have. I’d be very curious about what it is you think I’ve lied about.”

This revelation from Ben Affleck hasn’t exactly helped support his side in this ongoing argument.
