Ben Affleck In Talks To Direct A DC Movie

Ben Affleck is in early talks to direct a DC film.

Affleck could be seeing his last few films as the Caped Crusader. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn publicly announced that a new Superman will start off the new DC Universe. Because of this, the SnyderVerse seems to be on its last legs.

Will we see another SnyderVerse film after Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom? Or is that it? Can’t we have a last hurrah for Zack Snyder’s version of the Justice League? Gunn trashed those hopes. He will reboot the DCU.

With that said, it seems that Gunn and Safran are talking to everyone involved in the films. A few days ago, we heard that they are also on schedule to talk to Batgirl directors Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi. Now, Gunn has announced that he has already met Ben Affleck. This time to direct a DC movie.

The Hollywood Reporter wrote:

[DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran] recently met with Batman actor Ben Affleck to discuss the possibility of him directing for them in the future, according to sources familiar with the conversation. No deal is in place for him to helm a DC feature at this stage.

Not only that, but Gunn himself has posted on Twitter saying:

Met with Ben yesterday precisely because he wants to direct & we want him to direct; we just have to find the right project.

So, there is no question of Affleck in the director’s chair. Note, this is the original reason why Affleck wanted to join DC in the first place. He had a contract to direct his own Batman film. This was before he faced a ton of personal issues and had to let go of the project. Because of that, circumstances forced him to give the reins to director Matt Reeves.

Now, Affleck looks like he’s in a better place and just wants to direct a film. He’s back to where he wanted to be in a sense. It just took a decade for him to get the opportunity again.

Moviegoers know Affleck to have directed a few films himself. His past works include Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and Argo.

But we wonder how he’ll fare in working on a superhero film. So far, he hasn’t done anything similar. So, this might be a challenge for him that he’s looking forward to it.

For now, Affleck wants to direct a DC film. That is what is clear. Gunn and Safran has opened those doors for him. Now we wait for what will turn up.
