Ray Fisher Throws Shade At DC Studios’ James Gunn

Ray Fisher threw shade at DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn on Twitter. Another day, another fight breaks out with DC Studios. Many expected for Warner Bros. Discovery to repair relationships with their creative personnel and fans. On the contrary, the dumpster fire burns brighter. At least thus far.

James Gunn started work only last month. Although Gunn hasn’t revealed his DC slate yet, his corporate decisions and online behavior has triggered many. First of all, he let go of Henry Cavill as Superman.

In October, Cavill officially announced he’s Superman again. The news blew up the Internet. DC followers, especially SnyderVerse fans, celebrated his return. His post-credit scene in Black Adam was meant to tease his future. Warner Bros. Pictures Group co-chair Mike De Luca planned for Cavill to star in Man of Steel 2.

However, Gunn had other ideas. Gunn will recast Superman with a younger actor. Furthermore, he is letting the DCEU go. And, with that, goes what remains of the SnyderVerse for a reboot.

Thus, the bait-and-switch irked DC followers. In fact, they started a #FireJamesGunn campaign that trended on Twitter. Gunn responded to the naysayers today. But instead of calming people down, he doubled down on his controversial direction. He stated:

One of the things Peter & I were aware of when we took the job as heads of DC Studios was a certain minority of people online that could be, well, uproarious & unkind, to say the least.

Our choices for the DCU are based upon what we believe is best for the story & best for the DC characters who have been around for nearly 85 years. Perhaps these choices are great, perhaps not, but they are made with sincere hearts & integrity & always with the story in mind.

No one loves to be harassed or called names – but, to be frank, we’ve been through significantly worse. Disrespectful outcry will never, ever affect our actions.

On the other hand, nothing will. Gunn and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran solidified their vision before listening to what the fans want. Without a doubt, polite requests lead to nowhere as well.

In any case, the noise caught the attention of Justice League star Ray Fisher. Moreover, Fisher called out Gunn on his hypocrisy for their own earlier interaction. Fisher tweeted:

The way @JamesGunn uses fake grace on Twitter is really funny. Him going to bat for Joss Whedon, pseudo-apologizing for it, and then deleting it immediately before taking his new DC job is not. Refusing to apologize for toxic behavior seems to be a job requirement for WB/DC.

For the record, Gunn didn’t ignore him. Well, sort of. He replied:

ALL my tweets automatically delete every few months, Ray, it has nothing to do with my tweets to you.

Gunn conveniently not responded to Fisher’s other accusations. Without a doubt, it’s reminiscent of when Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins claimed Gunn basically fired her from the franchise. Gunn danced around it. He stated:

I can attest that all of Peter and my interactions with you were only pleasant and professional.

At this point, James Gunn sounds more like a slick politician than a studio head. And many wish they can vote him out of office.
