Scarlet Witch's Unused Costume In WandaVision Revealed

Elizabeth Olsen has revealed that she would love to explore Wanda Maximoff’s connection to the X-Men in the MCU.

Since making her first appearance in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff has become one of the MCU’s most powerful and beloved characters.

Maximoff technically made her official debut in the mid-credit scene for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Nonetheless, we didn’t get to see her fully shine until Avengers: Age of Ultron released a year later.

Phase Four finally gave Elizabeth Olsen her own solo project which became the MCU’s first Disney Plus series, WandaVision. Paul Bettany co-starred alongside Olsen as Maximoff’s longtime love interest, the Vision.

In addition, the season finale saw Maximoff unleash her full power and embracing her comic book persona, the Scarlet Witch. We next saw the Scarlet Witch as the main villain of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which seemingly ended with her being killed.

Elizabeth Olsen has previously explained that if her time as the character is over, she feels satisfied with how her story ended. Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean that the actress isn’t open to reprising her role in future MCU stories.

Particularly ones involving the X-Men.

In the comics, Maximoff and her twin brother Pietro are both mutants which is what gave them their powers. Moreover, their biological father is also the team’s greatest enemy Magneto.

But this is something the MCU couldn’t incorporate into their origin stories due to 20th Century Fox previously owning the cinematic rights to the X-Men.

Instead, their abilities were given to them after being experimented on by the Mind Stone.

However, with the rights now back with Marvel Studios, the X-Men are well on their way to finally joining the franchise. Furthermore, hints towards the existence of mutants have been placed throughout multiple projects in Phase Four.

Including WandaVision.

It was revealed that Maximoff’s powers were always there but only manifested once she was exposed to the Mind Stone. Recently, while speaking at the TJH Superhero Car Show & Comic Con this week, Elizabeth Olsen was asked where she’d like to see Scarlet Witch go in the future.

She answered:

Oh gosh, I just want to figure out the whole mutant thing, like, that’s really… and none of us can do anything about it. Like, we can’t do anything about it. We’re not X-Men, but gosh. I just would love to explore that so much. I think, X-Men was definitely my first experience with superhero-type films.

In the comic books, the Scarlet Witch debuted in The X-Men No. 4 in 1964. Given the popularity of both the actress and the character, it’s highly likely we’ll see both appear in the MCU again.
