DC Fans Create A Sadly Awkward New Hashtag For James Gunn

DC fans have inadvertently created perhaps the worst James Gunn hashtag. Then again, that might depend on how old you are. Or immature. I avoid Twitter like a plague. For the most part, it is a cesspool of negativity and bad takes. It is also where various sides of DC fandom engage in a 300-esque battle of supremacy.

And hashtags have become weapons of mass destruction.

On one side, there is the #SellZSJLtoNetflix campaign. YouTube personality Skiiwalker tha Jedi created the #SellZSJLtoNetflix hashtag. It’s whole purpose is for Warner Bros. Discovery to license out a particular DC property to Netflix. Specifically, Zack Snyder’s Justice League Part II

After hostile attempts to get DC Studios co-CEO Gunn fired, #SellZSJLtoNetflix bloomed into a positive effort to keep the SnyderVerse alive. Whether you believe it’s possible or not, #SellZSJLtoNetflix brought SnyderVerse followers together after Gunn crushed their dreams.

The #SellZSJLtoNetflix movement throws the spotlight on why Marvel Studios succeeds and DC always fails. MCU fans don’t need to petition for Hugh Jackman to return as Wolverine. Or Andrew Garfield come back as Spider-Man. After all, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige feeds them well. Uncle Kevin rubber-stamps their requests.

Gunn, on the other hand, promises Henry Cavill is Superman again and then abruptly pulls the plug.

Ouch.

In any case, Small Screen observes there’s a new DC hashtag, and to be candid it smells. Small Screen reveals the hashtag as #RunWithGunn. For those too young to remember, “I got the runs” is slang for diarrhea. Or a watery bowel movement. Brown rain.

Which is exactly how bitter SnyderVerse followers describe Gunn’s upcoming DC Studios slate. While I doubt the creator(s) of #RunWithGunn meant the hashtag to be synonymous with liquid poop, it sounds like it.

Are we all going to poop with Gunn? Quite frankly, I don’t know what else #RunWithGunn is supposed to mean. Gunn is already in charge of DC Studios. Given that, what’s the point of this hashtag? To provide Gunn with unconditional love? To kiss his feet?

Gunn isn’t going anywhere until Comcast buys Warner Bros. Discovery years from now. No hashtag is needed for his job security. At least #SellZSJLtoNetflix is trying to get something done.

On the contrary, #RunWithGunn makes me think I should visit the toilet.

Thus, I asked a DC buff what #RunWithGunn means.

“I don’t know,” he replied. “But it rolls off the tongue.”
