James Gunn Continues To Debunk Superman Reports

DC Studios co-chief James Gunn continues to debunk the various Superman reports that have been emerging online.

When you think of DC Comics or superheroes in general, Superman would often spring to mind. After all, he’s one of pop culture’s most beloved and well known icons.

In addition, the character has remained consistently popular with audiences since his debut appearance back in June 1938. Moreover, he was the first superhero to star in his own big budget Hollywood movie.

Superman single handedly started the superhero film craze which still dominates the industry to this day. Nonetheless, the 21st century has been less kind to the Man Of Steel in regards to his latest cinematic appearances.

The trouble however lies behind the scenes with the constant shifts in leadership at Warner Bros. and DC Comics. To put it simply, the previous regime didn’t want Superman or his actor Henry Cavill in the DCEU.

Both were an integral part of Zack Snyder’s original plan for the franchise which they wanted to bury. However, Cavill’s time as the Last Son of Krypton became just as influential as Christopher Reeve’s.

Henry Cavill is this generation’s Superman.

Thankfully, the newly established DC Studios and it’s co-CEO James Gunn plan to make Superman a top priority. Furthermore Gunn has even begun writing a script for a new Superman movie which will fully launch his new DCU.

Superman Legacy is currently scheduled to hit theatres in 2025. Unfortunately, the character won’t be portrayed by Henry Cavill much to the disappointment of fans worldwide.

Instead, the movie will star a much younger actor in the titular role. As expected, there was immediate outrage to this news. Speculation about how young the new Superman will be has been a hot topic online.

One Twitter user posted this tweet on the social media site:

“Yeah, but Gunn’s words were he was a couple years older than Superman. Might not be exactly 30 but its in between it, not more than that.”

James Gunn is notorious for debunking rumours and reports about his projects via Twitter.

Today was no exception.

Replying to the user’s tweet regarding Superman’s age, Gunn posted:

“Yeah but people are speculating about both ages. All I ever said was Superman was younger than in his forties and Batman MIGHT be a couple years older than Superman.”

So as of now not even James Gunn knows exactly how old his version of Superman will be in his movie. What we know for sure is that he’ll be younger than 40 years old.

Nonetheless, it’ll be hard to see a different actor don the iconic red cape after Henry Cavill.
