Doctor Strange 2 Writer Explains Plans For Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool

X-Men ‘97 will be acknowledged in Deadpool 3 as Ryan Reynolds will reportedly bust in or out of that animated universe. Out? According to Giant Freakin Robot, Deadpool 3‘s connection to X-Men ’97 could be beyond a random cameo.

From all we’ve heard about Deadpool 3, it sounds like the upcoming sequel will feature the mind-blowing appearances some fans expected expected from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

In addition to being a buddy film between Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, this third movie will also see everyone’s favorite foul-mouthed mercenary explore the MCU multiverse.

Specifically the 20th Century Fox side of Marvel cinema before he eventually makes his highly anticipated entrance to the MCU. Indeed, The Hollywood Reporter already confirmed a major character from one of Fox’s Marvel movies to return.

Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra Natchios from the 2003 Daredevil movie and her 2005 spin-off film. In fact, even more actors and characters from Fox’s Marvel universe are also rumored to be appearing in Deadpool 3.

So it’s possible that we’ll see Deadpool and Wolverine in the Fantastic Four’s universe as well as Daredevil’s. Hopefully, the Tim Story version instead of director Josh Trank’s hot mess.

Story’s two Fantastic Four adventures may had some serious creative and budgetary issues but many despised Trank’s take. Perhaps the only redeeming factor was Michael B. Jordan in an early Marvel role as the Human Torch.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness offered a brief glimpse of Marvel’s cartoon world. Apparently, Deadpool 3 jumps headlong into it. Specifically, the one where X-Men ’97 is set.

Giant Freakin Robot exclusively reported:

Our trusted and proven sources have revealed the upcoming Deadpool 3 will include an animated sequence. Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) will enter the animated world inhabited by the characters of the beloved 1990s cartoon X-Men: The Animated Series.

X-Men: The Animated Series debuted on the Fox Kids Network on October 31, 1992. With 76 episodes in all, it lasted until September 20, 1997. Like its DC counterpart Batman: The Animated Series (premiering a month earlier) it became a generational landmark.

There were no Marvel live-action theatrical movies when X-Men: The Animated Series aired. In fact, the show created massive awareness for the X-Men IP. The program brought characters such as Wolverine to the general audience years prior to director Bryan Singer’s X-Men film in 2000.

GFR added the possibility that this version of Wolverine could’ve emanated from the X-Men ’97 cartoon universe, which explains his yellow outfit. They stated:

To be clear, this only speculation and not part of what our sources told us, but if the Deadpool 3 shot above is supposed to take place after Wade and Logan leave the X-Men ’97 world, it would explain why Logan is dressed that way. Otherwise, based on Jackman’s other appearances, you would think he would’ve had to have lost a huge bet to wear that get-up.

With the Multiverse Saga in full gear, such an explanation would push the envelope and blow people’s minds. The general public wouldn’t expect it. Furthermore, it’s another example of Deadpool’s anarchic humor. Given that both Deadpool 3 and X-Men ’97 are produced by Marvel Studios, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch.

Wolverine died in 2017’s critically acclaimed Logan. It left a legacy that Jackman wants to preserve. If this incarnation of Wolverine actually crossed over from X-Men ’97, there would no be concerns over that. Without a doubt, it’d easily break the Internet.

Moreover, an appearance in Deadpool 3 will surely attract more attention to the upcoming Disney Plus revival. It’ll propel its popularity.

It’s a win-win for both Marvel Studios and the fans.
