Venom Director Discusses Crossover Film With Spider-Man

Written By Kieran Bugg

Venom director Ruben Fleischer shared his thoughts on a Spider-Man crossover film. Such a pairing is inevitable. After all, Spider-Man was in the post-credit sequence for Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

Likewise, Venom had a cameo after Spider Man: No Way Home‘s credits.

They’re going to meet.

No doubt it.

But will Fleischer direct it?

Probably not.

Indeed, Sony expected a more positive response for Venom.

Critics trashed it.

Still, it earned Fleischer the director’s seat on the studio’s upcoming action movie, Uncharted.

Uncharted is an adaptation of hit video game-franchise.

Specifically, it went through six different directors during that time.

Eventually, Sony decided that Fleischer would be the one to finally bring Nathan Drake to the big screen.

And we all thought The Flash has had the most difficult time finding the right director.

Sony releases Uncharted on February 18.

In an interview, Fleischer answered questions about Venom and Spider-Man.

When asked about the possibility of directing the anticipated crossover, Fleischer said:

We’ll have to see, I mean, it would be honestly a dream come true to have those two worlds converge. It’ll be a formidable battle between those two characters, so…whether or not I direct it, I’ll certainly be excited to see it.

A onscreen fight between the two classic rivals will happen.

Given the history the two share in the comics, there’s no doubt about it.

In addition, fans long to see Tom Holland and Tom Hardy in a movie together.

At this point, Venom is probably

Spider-Man’s most popular foe.

Nonetheless, Sony views him as anti-hero.

Then again, that’s true to the comics lately as well.

Moreover, the stage has been set for Spider-Man and Venom to eventually clash.

That mid-credit scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home revealed that part of the symbiote was left behind in the MCU.

Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and Venom were sent back to their own universe.

No doubt this piece of Venom will make it’s way to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker during his next trilogy.

That gives both characters a connection that will lead to them meeting.
