Sony plans to give Marvel fans another Morbius film with Jared Leto. Although Leto’s Morbius disappointed critics and fans, the Living Vampire will bare his fangs again on the big screen.
Never mind that the movie only had a 15% rating on the critics’ consensus in Rotten Tomatoes and just a 71% Audience score. Thus, the movie only earned $163 million in the worldwide box office from a $75 million budget. Nevertheless, the online memes inspired Sony to re-release the film. However, it bombed a second time.
LOL, Sony, LOL.
But Sony’s eyes are on the bigger picture. And that is keeping its tight grip on Spider-Man.
Everything Always host Michael Roman reported the latest rumor about Morbius. Specifically, Sony will go forward with a second Morbius movie. According to Roman, Sony can still save what it has done to its own IP.
Report: Jared Leto To Get Morbius Sequel

Given what they released as the first Morbius movie this year, many are not too keen on the upcoming Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web films. Add the fact that Sony moved the theatrical premiere dates for both movies, it really isn’t shaping positively. Still, the plots for both upcoming movies are still under wraps. Thus, there isn’t much to expect.
Although there have been talks about Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige being part of the production for Madame Web, nothing much is available as an update.
Morbius arrived in theaters in April. The marketing team weighed heavily on Jared Leto’s star power for the movie. To an extent, it did carry the box office sales. Morbius would’ve performed worse without Jared Leto. On the contrary, it didn’t get a stronghold on the theater-going population as sales dwindled after its first weekend. Months later, Morbius is now streaming on Netflix. Some fans who got to see it on the streaming platform for the first time had a degree of appreciation for the movie.
Roman even commented that he received feedback from his own subscribers saying that the movie wasn’t as bad as it seemed. He said:
I’ve read the comments from some of you who didn’t see Morbius until it hit Netflix. And now that it’s out, you don’t think it’s as bad as everybody says it was. Look, I feel you. I’m all ears. You guys give me your feedback. Man, maybe I’m gonna get blown away. Maybe I’m totally wrong and this video won’t even make sense.
Maybe Kraven the Hunter is going to be amazing. I’m not gonna hate for the sake of it. I hope that’s the case.

As fans, people only want to appreciate adaptations of their beloved comics. Fans are always ready to embrace them. That is, if the product is worthy of it. Although it’s common knowledge that one product can never make all of the fans happy. As one actor can never satisfy everybody with his portrayal of a certain role. There will always be critics. There will always be something lacking or negative that people will see. We just hope that Sony doesn’t make it just for the sake of releasing the movie. Or just for the sake of keeping its claim to the IP. We’ve seen that before.
If Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s description of Kraven being an animal lover is any indication, Morbius 2 might just actually be in trouble. We sincerely hope not. Furthermore, Taylor-Johnson has clarified that description and we do hope it explains his meaning better.
