Henry Cavill will return for a sequel to Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. According to a new report, that film is already in development. On April 6, 2021, Geekosity founder Mikey Sutton scooped that the Rock wants to produce Man of Steel 2.
As of right now, the Rock’s involvement in Man of Steel 2 is unknown. Via Small Screen, The Rock apparently demanded Henry Cavill’s appearance in Black Adam. For longtime Geekosity readers, this should be no surprise. On April 11, 2021, Sutton explained that the Rock fought the previous Warner Bros. regime to keep the DCEU intact. In other words, that includes the SnyderVerse and its actors. Such as Henry Cavill.

The recent story explained that the Rock “went hard, full-court press on Warner Bros. and made them go to Henry Cavill and they had to sign a new deal with Henry Cavill, including saying they were gonna develop a new Superman movie. And it was all because The Rock insisted.”
Sutton initially leaked Cavill’s DCEU return on March 3, 2020. Geekosity didn’t exist then. Therefore, Lords of the Longbox published it. By April 11, 2021, I updated it. Sources buzzed that the Rock sought Cavill for Black Adam‘s post-credits scene. That was over a year before even people’s grandmas claimed it was breaking news.
The Rock wanted Cavill in Black Adam for a while. He didn’t just wake up in 2022 and decided Black Adam should fight Superman.
Come on, man.
That’s not how films are made, especially superhero franchises. Thanks to The Rock, Cavill and Warner Bros. Discovery have now repaired their once fractured relationship.
Certainly, the online gossip of Cavill’s arrival at SDCC excited fandom. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen and hopes for a new Superman movie starring Cavill were dashed. Nonetheless, Sutton reaffirmed that Man Of Steel 2 was still in the cards.

It’s common knowledge the Rock thinks highly of Cavill and his portrayal of Superman. In addition to having the same agent, the actors are also close friends in real life. The Rock even described Cavill as “The Superman of our generation.”
So, it makes complete sense for him to want his pal back in the DCEU.
Will Snyder direct Man of Steel 2? Insiders remain firm that WBD prefers Snyder to helm it. For now, Snyder hasn’t signed yet. After all, they had to get Superman back first.
