Man Of Steel 2 will keep Hans Zimmer’s score. Apparently, it won’t utilize John Williams’ classic Superman theme. According to sources, DC Studios intends to remain consistent with Zack Snyder’s 2013 movie. However, because of the time frame, Snyder might not direct it. Snyder remains busy with his Rebel Moon movies for Netflix.

When Warner Bros. brought on Snyder to direct Man Of Steel, the director hoped to use Williams’ theme. Nevertheless, the studio decided against it. That led to celebrated composer Hans Zimmer creating his own score. Hans Zimmer’s theme became an instant fan favorite. It made audiences once again believe that a man could fly.

Then DC Films infamously hired Joss Whedon to finish Snyder’s Justice League. In it, they replaced Zimmer’s score. Specifically, Whedon brought back Williams’ theme. Much like the movie itself, this decision backfired spectacularly.

After all, people will always associate Williams’ score with Reeve’s take on the character. Thankfully, Zack Snyder’s Justice League restored Zimmer’s composition. Nonetheless, DC Films caused serious damage. Unfortunately, they now link Williams’ theme with Whedon’s Justice League fail. As a result, it became tainted.

In addition to using it in Whedon’s disaster, Warner Bros. would continue to bring back the Williams theme. It was next heard at the very end of Shazam! Worse yet, it featured a headless cameo from Superman.

No Henry Cavill.

Ouch.

Furthermore, Black Adam chose Williams’ score for Cavill’s cameo. Thus, some believe DC Studios has scrapped plans for Zimmer in Man of Steel 2. Insiders claim otherwise.

As it turns out, Hans Zimmer’s theme will return in Man of Steel 2. While the movie will be more upbeat than its predecessor, the studio intends to use Zimmer’s score.

Like Superman himself, Zimmer’s theme is inspirational, which is exactly what this sequel is aiming to be. Yes, it’s early. Indeed, Warner Bros. Discovery hasn’t hired a director yet. Still, discussions arose on how Man of Steel 2 needs to truly connect with its predecessor.

Williams’ score can’t pull that off. Instead, it will take viewers into the past. Into the ’70s and ’80s. Man of Steel 2 looks to the future.
