Jon Bernthal In Negotiations For New Punisher Series In MCU

Jon Bernthal is in talks for a new Punisher show in the MCU.

According to Small Screen, Jon Bernthal’s fellow Netflix Marvel veterans Charlie Cox (Daredevil) and Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) are in contract discussions as well.

On September 2019, Geekosity Editor-in-Chief Mikey Sutton scooped that those actors would not be recast for their MCU reboots.

Cox has been rumored to return as Daredevil in the highly-anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home, scheduled for release this December.

So what exactly does this mean?

Will they have any connection to their previous incarnations in Netflix’ cancelled TV series?

The lore of the Marvel films and TV shows has been something fans have been keeping up with for some time now.

For the MCU, casting is something that has always been well-received.

The abrupt removal of Netflix’ Marvel dramas devastated fans.

Everyone quickly looked to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige for his next move.

After all, he is in charge of Marvel Television now.

If anyone could do a great delivery, he was the guy to do it.

Now that the possibility of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the Punisher fighting alongside our film hero favorites is even clearer, fans are ecstatic.

They have been asking for this for a long time.

Here’s what’s going on in the Marvel Studios right now according to Small Screen:

Marvel Studios wants all three leads to have their own programs back.

Jon Bernthal, in particular, has been eager to play the Punisher again; however, according to the report, he is negotiating hard.

You cannot blame the man; after all, these projects make major money.

Such talent should not shy away from making what they deserve.

Out of all these new projects being added to the MCU, a Punisher series is already in the works.

So here’s hoping we see Jon Bernthal and Marvel Studios come to an agreement soon.

Also, we have been told that no one is sure if it will be on Hulu or Disney Plus’ Star.

Nevertheless, a Punisher script has already been written.

Small Screen‘s trusted source described it as “pretty violent – like the Netflix show.”

Moreover, the new Punisher series will not be a continuation of the Netflix program.

The insider added that:

It sounds as though it’ll be a new start – probably in an alternate timeline.

This is similar to Sutton’s own theories from July 25, 2020.

At the time, the plan was to name the show Punisher War Journal like the late ’80s Marvel comic book.

We will have to debunk the famous fan theory that it’ll pick up from the Netflix series.

That’s not happening.

Feige wants to establish his own spin on the character and how it will fit into the future of the MCU.

Basically, this is all about starting fresh yet with some of the original cast after negotiations have taken place.

The MCU has been diving into multiverse territory lately.

It’s the best technique to introduce all Marvel properties into the MCU.

Feige will use the multiverse format to get all his cards in order for the MCU’s bright future.

Small Screen’s source said that it is likely that the series will be a hard “R” rating.

Hey, that’s how we like it with the Punisher, right?

Expect Western vibes with this one, too.

“Think Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven.” as Small Screen’s source stated.

Small Screen added that:

Bernthal, Cox and Ritter are pretty much dead certs for the MCU and might be involved in multiple shows and turn up – maybe – in some of the movies.

Furthermore, Small Screen revealed that the Punisher could appear on Disney Plus’ upcoming Moon Knight.

On June 6, 2021, Geekosity leaked that the Punisher would face Moon Knight.
