Jared Leto described the experience of working on Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Alas, Jared Leto’s the Joker only appeared once in theaters. Specifically, David Ayer’s butchered Suicide Squad (2016) was it. Furthermore, we didn’t see his full performance.

To make matters worse, Suicide Squad set up for something bigger for Zack Snyder’s DCEU. DC Films opted instead for Todd Philips’ Joker with Joaquin Phoenix. Joker wasn’t connected to Zack Snyder’s DC movies. Nevertheless, Phoenix won a Best Actor Oscar and Joker smashed $1 billion globally.

Ironically, the old Warner Bros. regime had little interest in the movie.

Since the release of Joss Whedon’s creative slaughter of Justice League in 2017, DC Films shifted focus. It was not focusing on the DCEU anymore. Instead, DC Films flushed the SnyderVerse down the toilet and let their own feces float to the surface.

Some, like Aquaman and the first Wonder Woman, escaped the junk pile. Then again, those two were developed during the Zack Snyder period.

Thus, DC Films jettisoned Jared Leto. What only mattered to DC Films for was Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. She co-starred in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Academy Award-winning actor Jared Leto was absent. The Suicide Squad crashed at the box office.

Coincidence?

When Zack Snyder got the opportunity to return to the Justice League for HBO Max, he wanted to reshoot parts, including an epilogue. And in that epilogue, it shows the possible tragic future. Zack Snyder was able to get some of the cast back. Actors Ben Affleck, Ezra Miller, Amber Heard, Ray Fisher, Joe Manganiello and, of course, Jared Leto came for the additional shoot.

In a new interview, Jared Leto was asked about his participation with the Justice League epilogue scene. He said:

It was great. Working with Zack[Snyder] is a beautiful thing. I adore him. I really loved the opportunity. It was really special and I enjoyed it a lot. It’s a unique thing to have been part of DC and to now have been part of Marvel. It’s pretty amazing.

In a time when people thought that they wouldn’t see Jared Leto return as the Joker, Zack Snyder showed otherwise.

Indeed, Zack Snyder hinted at future plans for him.

The SnyderVerse will continue. But Warner Bros. Discovery is still reorganizing. Warner Bros. New David Zaslav wants Todd Philips to continue what he has done with the Joker. He even wants to be part of planning future movies.

But the DC Black Label movie imprint which we reported is also being developed. This is very promising because they intend to include Zack Snyder.

Will this be different from the original plan? It might. But at least it gives the opportunity to get back to the characters Zack Snyder helped create for the DCEU.

Considering his experience with Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Jared Leto’s door is wide open for that to happen.
