Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine In Doctor Strange Could Be Animated

Written by Edwin Francisco

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has opened up the doors to Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine. However, could Hugh Jackman come back in animated form? Sounds weird, right? In fact, it’s absolute Madness.

The multiverse has opened so many doors that almost nothing is impossible. Three generations of Spider-Men meeting, Loki falling in love with a female version of himself, Captain Carter showing up in the MCU, Marvel  Zombies.

Literally, anything that you can think of can possibly be canon in the MCU multiverse. Even the X-Men: all the versions of it that we know and love.

We’ve all seen Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer. Patrick Stewart’s return is an incredible surprise. His Professor X died in 2017’s Logan. This doesn’t mean that his death didn’t happen. It did; nothing can erase that. Marvel Studios doesn’t want to forget that, either.

Geekosity owner Mikey Sutton previously reported a recent TV spot for the Doctor Strange sequel. It seems that Professor X is using a yellow hoverchair. Not the wheelchair that he uses in the movies. Charles Xavier only used the hoverchair in the comics, the games, and in the cartoons.

Given that, it’s not impossible to think that with Professor X that we will see a hybrid of his live-action and animated incarnations. In other words, this is not the same Professor Xavier that we have seen before, but an amalgamation of the two versions.

A new theory speculates that Hugh Jackman could simply voice Wolverine in the film. After all, it’ll be a cartoon Wolverine. Now keep in mind this is simply a possibility. Rumors continue to buzz of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine cameo in the new Doctor Strange movie.

What if he’s the Wolverine from 1992’s X-Men: The Animated Series?

Literally.

Not flesh and blood but pen and ink.

WTF?!?

Exactly. Marvel Studios seeks to blow minds. This will do it.

On February 20, Sutton scooped that the movie could include appearances from X-Men: The Animated Series.

Hugh Jackman is retired from Wolverine. His Wolverine died in Logan, too. But just like Professor X, he is not the same Wolverine as we’ve seen in Fox’s X-Men franchise. He is, again, another version of Wolverine that we haven’t seen before in a movie. Furthermore, because of this, we may even see him in full yellow spandex which never happened in the films. That is what Wolverine wore in the TV cartoon.

Long term, Marvel is still looking for a younger actor to be the new Wolverine. But Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness gives Hugh Jackman the opportunity that is hard to pass up.

Why would Hugh Jackman come back as Wolverine? Because Stewart also has returned.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is going to be the weirdest movie of all in the MCU.

An animated Wolverine for Hugh Jackman would elevate its strangeness. Will Marvel Studios go there? In terms of shocks, this is swinging for the fences.

The Doctor Strange sequel is the window that shows us all the possible versions that might have been and will be.
