Fantastic Four May Have Fulfilled Its Search For The Thing

Fantastic Four may have ended its cast search for the MCU’s version of the Thing. No, it’s not Mila Kunis. The actress debunked rumors of her involvement in The Fantastic Four on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

After being spotted having lunch with director Matt Shakman, speculation immediately started to spread. Initial reports suggested that Kunis was in talks to portray Sue Storm but later ones said otherwise. Recently a rumor surfaced that she was instead being eyed to portray a gender-swapped version of the Thing.

As bizarre as it was, those who read Marvel Comics in the ’80s know she did exist as Sharon Ventura, She-Thing. Nonetheless, Kunis assured fans that neither of these casting reports true.

Moreover, Kunis even claimed that she knows who has been cast in the upcoming reboot. This had led to even more speculation about who Marvel Studios has hired to play the classic superhero team.

Every day there’s new gossip. Much of it sounds like speculation. Let’s toss everything against the wall and see what sticks.

At some point, one has to.

Now it’s been suggested that Hamilton star Daveed Diggs is currently in the running to play the Thing. This latest report comes from insider Jeff Sneider via his podcast, The Hot Mic.

Bear in mind that Sneider has a questionable track record with scoops so take this with a pinch of salt. Whilst speaking on the matter, the insider explained The Fantastic Four will feature a diverse cast. We’ve heard this before.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has been wanting to pull off The Fantastic Four for decades. Would he adapt them less faithfully now they’re under his wing?

Alas, Fox held the rights and he couldn’t touch them. When he had the chance, he cast fan favorite John Krasinski as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Insiders told us Krasinski still had the role until Shakman became the new director.

Sneider affirmed that the team will not be portrayed by all-white actors. At least one member of the Fantastic Four will be portrayed by a person of color, according to Sneider. Furthermore, it’s been strongly implied that Marvel Studios is looking for a Jewish actor to play Ben Grimm.

As the character is Jewish in the comics and Diggs is of Jewish descent it would make sense. Diggs is also no stranger to Disney as he’ll voice Sebastian in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

With countless rumors still circulating, it’s still anyone’s guess about who’ll star in The Fantastic Four.

We should have our cast announcement by this year’s San Diego Comic-Con at the latest.
