Charlie Cox‘ Daredevil cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home thrilled fans; however, it could’ve been even bigger.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Charlie Cox only appeared in one scene.

Nevertheless, it was a memorable one.

In fact, it was among the film’s best moments.

The following contains major spoilers.

Charlie Cox is Peter Parker’s attorney.

He doesn’t wear his Daredevil costume.

Furthermore, there’s no action sequence.

Instead, Cox consults Parker (Tom Holland) in his home.

But then somebody throws a brick through the window.

Charlie Cox catches it immediately.

There’s no effort at all.

Parker is stunned. He asks him how he made the catch.

“I’m a very good lawyer,” Charlie Cox answers.

In a few seconds, the movie captures Daredevil’s personality.

The writing is superb.

However, there could have been more.

Much more.

In an interview, writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers revealed they had more ambitious ideas.

Sommers explained:

That was the challenge with this movie: bringing all these other characters in. We love these characters, and you would love to see them do all kinds of stuff, but the question is, what is there room for? I could watch any of these characters we brought in just do a whole other movie by themselves or in some various combination, but we have to, ultimately, service the story of our Peter Parker and our Spider-Man, no matter how tempting it is.

In other words, Charlie Cox could’ve suited up as Daredevil.

In hindsight, yes, seeing Daredevil in action again would’ve been epic.

Nonetheless, it would’ve lessened the emotional impact.

After all, what made the climax so powerful is that it’s just the three Spider-Men.

Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield electrified the screen together.

Adding Daredevil would’ve made it overstuffed.

Perhaps the filmmakers wanted to avoid the mistakes of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

That movie bit off more than it could chew.

In addition, Daredevil will return.

He’ll be in the upcoming Echo series for Disney Plus.

Furthermore, he appears in She-Hulk, too.

Going forward, there’ll be plenty of Charlie Cox.

Marvel Studios believes in patience and restraint.

In the end, it’s about the best storytelling.
