Robert Pattinson’s The Batman debuts on HBO Max on April 18, which is earlier than expected. The Batman won’t reach the $1 billion worldwide box office sources said studio officials expected. Nevertheless, Robert Pattinson’s initially entry as the Dark Knight was a hit.

It just wasn’t a game changer for DC Films. In fact, it won’t reach the $1.074 billion of 2019’s low-budget Joker. Indeed, it’s not even close. However, that has nothing to do with HBO Max’s decision to launch it the day before its original date.

On April 18, subscribers of HBO Max will be able to watch The Batman.

The Batman raked in $736 million at the global box office from a $200 million budget. In its opening weekend alone, The Batman already got $134 million in the box office. Critics were also not shy about commending the film with a Fresh Tomatometer score of 87%. The audience score also supported this at 85% with 457 reviews.

At the moment, The Batman is the movie to beat for the top box-office rank for the year 2022. Nevertheless, insiders predict Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will knock it off its throne this summer.

Sources revealed director Matt Reeves will need to make artistic changes for the sequel. Although Robert Pattinson delivered a convincing Batman, he didn’t bring in the female crowd. That’s ironic because Warner Bros. expected Twilight fans to reel in more women viewers.

Furthermore, The Batman fell short of Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The Snyder pic earned $873.6 million worldwide. In addition, Spider-Man: No Way Home proved that audiences will see a movie repeatedly despite pandemic fears.

A source observed:

The Batman isn’t a crowd pleaser. It’s too long and not a film people want to see over and over and over again.

The Batman focuses on his second year of existence in Gotham City.

He finds a series of murders seemingly pointing to Bruce Wayne (Robert Pattinson) as a target. He must find The Riddler (Paul Dano) past all the puzzles and clues. And in the process, Wayne uncovers unfavorable truths from his past.

The movie has paved the way for a new universe of DC characters en route to HBO Max. The Batman spun off two shows: one about the Penguin and the other about Arkham Asylum.

Reeves created this dark detective universe for The Batman. As a universe is always expanding, The Batman has a lot of room for spin-off series and theatrical sequel development. But The Batman lives in a pocket universe. He won’t meet Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman or Jason Momoa’s Aquaman. Insiders say that hurts it, too.

By April 18, which is just days away, more people will be introduced to the world Reeves has woven for the Caped Crusader. At the same time, people who have already seen it on the big screen can re-watch the movie in the comforts of their own homes. Perhaps there are certain elements of the film that will be rediscovered. Certain Easter eggs or clues to future projects for this universe of Robert Pattinson’s Batman.
