Two Snyderverse Veterans In Batgirl Film?

Two Snyderverse Veterans in Batgirl Film

The Snyderverse haunts Batgirl with a veteran possibly returning, one confirmed.

First of all, J.K. Simmons is officially reprising his role as Commissioner Jim Gordon.

On August 13, 2021, Geekosity reported that Simmons will return in the Batgirl HBO Max film.

Oddly enough, Saturday’s DC Fandome event ignored this news; instead, Deadline dropped it a day later.

Sources indicate Warner Bros. Pictures chairman Toby Emmerich didn’t want the Snyderverse acknowledged at DC Fandome. (In contrast, the Chinese Flash movie panel featured Snyder Cut footage.)

Hence, no Simmons, no Ben Affleck, no Henry Cavill.

Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah revealed Batman will show up in their film.

In other words, new Batgirl Leslie Grace won’t be alone in the developing DC movie.

Both directors are known for directing Bad Boys for Life (2020) with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

They stated during an interview with Dutch radio VRTNWS that Batman is set to appear.

Now, the question is: which Batman?

Both directors answered:

The real one.

Who is the real Batman?

The DCEU has two Batmen confirmed to be existing in its multiverse, namely Ben Affleck from the established Snyderverse and Michael Keaton.

As far as I am concerned, both Affleck and Keaton are both real.

But who is real in their universe?

Affleck has reprised the Batman role five times which also includes the upcoming Flash movie with Ezra Miller.

Keaton returns as Batman for The Flash. He is from Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992).

He returns to his role 30 years after the last film.

However, we have no idea if Robert Pattinson is part of the known DC multiverse.

In addition, it doesn’t seem that it intends to be.

I’m sure that Iain Glen won’t be part of the DCEU since he is portraying Batman/Bruce Wayne in the HBO Max series Titans.

We are sure that the new Batgirl movie will have no connection to the Michael Keaton Batman since that will make no sense.

In Batman (1989), Commissioner Gordon was played by Pat Hingle.

Furthermore, we mentioned earlier that DC Films is planning a crossover with Leslie Grace’s Batgirl and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl.

Calle is part of the DCEU although we aren’t sure which universe she comes from.

Based on the recent Flash trailer, it is presumed that she exists in the Keaton universe.

From our understanding, Keaton will remain in the new universe built in the DCEU, but we don’t think that he will remain as Batman.

Our own Kieran Bugg and Geekosity owner Mikey Sutton reported back in June that Keaton will not replace Affleck as the Batman.

Moreover, it is possible that “the real one” is Affleck’s Dark Knight.

After all, he did say that he was enjoying being the Batman again when he was filming The Flash:

It was a really nice way to revisit that as the prior experience had been difficult. This was really lovely. Really fun. I had a great time. I’m probably under some gag order that I’m not even aware that I probably just violated and I’m now going to be sued.

So Affleck might be returning to the Batman role for the DCEU since he seems to be more comfortable now than he was before.

We have been looking forward to see the Snyderverse return.

Nevertheless, whoever the Batman is, it is interesting that the iconic superhero will show up in Batgirl in some capacity.
