Thunderbolts could bring Stranger Things star Sadie Sink into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Per the moderators from the Marvel Studios Spoilers Reddit page, Marvel Studios is considering Sadie Sink to play Songbird in Thunderbolts.

Writers Mark Gruenwald and Ralph Macchio and artist John Byrne co-created Songbird. She debuted in Marvel Two-in-One No. 54. in 1979. However, she didn’t initially appear as Songbird. In fact, she called herself Screaming Mimi in her first appearance. Furthermore, Screaming Mimi became one of Marvel Comics’ more obscure villains.

In other words, she’s the type of B-side character that director James Gunn would’ve probably used for an MCU project. But Gunn is the co-CEO of DC Studios now. Nevertheless, director Jake Schreier will reportedly enlist her in his Thunderbolts film. However, he’ll take her modern incarnation, Songbird.

As Songbird, Melissa Gold flipped into a superhero. Thus, she rose from the lowest ranks of costumed characters to a rising star. In fact, she even lead the team of former supervillains herself. Regardless, casual fans and certainly general audiences will ask “who?” if anyone brings her up.

Then again, that’s what makes Thunderbolts so refreshing. Like DC Comics’ the Suicide Squad, Thunderbolts consist of little-known yet colorful misfits. In other words, there shouldn’t be superstars in this group.

So far, the Thunderbolts movie includes freaks such as Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and Red Guardian (David Harbour).

Although Marvel Studios have introduced these minor figures in other projects, neither of them could launch a franchise on their own.

At least not yet.

Florence Pugh has the biggest brand name as Black Widow; on the other hand, she isn’t Scarlett Johansson.

Without a doubt, that day will come. After all, Pugh smashed it on Disney Plus’ Hawkeye.

If Sadie Sink wins the role, she’ll join Stranger Things veteran Harbour. Marvel Studios probably has Guardians of the Galaxy expectations from Thunderbolts.

Can they catch lightning in a bottle twice?

That’s tough. Even Gunn himself failed with The Suicide Squad; that soft reboot tanked at the box office. Then again, I don’t doubt Marvel Studios. They’ve more than earned my faith.
