Spider-Verse fans may have caught a glimpse of Chloe Bennet‘s Quake. Although it’s a Sony film, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has a visible nod to its Disney counterparts, this time involving Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Specifically, Bennet‘s Quake. And the timing is suspicious.
Of all the MCU characters Across the Spider-Verse could reference, they choose one that’s not well-known to the general public. Furthermore, Quake is not recognized for having Spider-Verse ties in the comics. But there is a newspaper clipping of her in Miles Morales’ room. In fact, it’s the same one used in an an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The headline reads:
“Hero or Rogue? Police step up city wide search.”
So what’s going on?

Disney Plus has begun airing the stylish, adult limited series Secret Invasion. On January 27, 2021, I scooped that Bennet would come back as Quake on Disney Plus. By February 5, 2021, that was updated to Secret Invasion.
Although Quake did participate in the original Secret Invasion story in the comic books, Marvel Studios regularly tweaks the source material. Thus, there’s no guarantee the TV show will do the same. The following contains a major spoiler for the Secret Invasion program; do not proceed if you’d rather not know. The shocking death of S.H.I.E.L.D. deputy director Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) leaves an opening for Quake to leap through.
Theoretically, Quake could be a trusted ally of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in his fight against the shape-shifting Skrulls.

On the other hand, Bennet denied her involvement in Secret Invasion. She stated:
Listen, there’s a lot of stuff around that. I so deeply love SHIELD fans, because it’s their tenacity that got the show on air to begin with, I have not once been approached or asked or involved in anything after I’ve wrapped SHIELD, and I am not involved in anything that is coming out. I’ve not been asked, but I would be more than excited to put on the suit again. Of course, Daisy’s a big part of who I am. So, I would love to, but I have not been communicated with.
She probably forgot she hinted at Quake’s comeback on Instagram in November 2022. Bennet struck a Spider-Man pose with a daisy poking out of her shoe. Quake’s secret identity is Daisy Johnson.
That can’t be a coincidence.
I doubt the Across the Spider-Verse image was random as well. Sony would’ve needed Disney’s permission to use Quake in any capacity in their animated Spider-Verse.
Certainly, someone from the Spider-Verse crew could simply be a fan. However, they would still have required Disney’s approval.
This feels like a play from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. He knew someone would notice it in Across the Spider-Verse and blast it on social media to generate buzz for Secret Invasion.
Bennet was on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in all of its seven seasons from 2013 to 2020 on ABC.

Her Quake is among the MCU’s most beloved characters even though it’s still unknown if Marvel Studios will incorporate its continuity.
Secret Invasion could answer that once and for all.
Disney only sent the first two episodes to the media.
What are they hiding?
Given that Marvel Studios has hired the major players from Netflix’ Daredevil, it’s only a matter of time they do the same for other past TV series.
