Ray Fisher Is Still Waiting For Apology From DC Films’ Walter Hamada

Written by Edwin Francisco

Ray Fisher still awaits for his apology from ex-DC Films president Walter Hamada.

With the Rock announcing that the new DC is now in place, people are rallying for Ray Fisher to return to the DCEU. But hold on. Warner Bros. Discovery has yet to address Fisher’s issue. Specifically, his demand for Walter Hamada’s apology. He reminded the world on Twitter.

DCEU fans know Fisher well for his role as Cyborg in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Let’s ignore director Joss Whedon’s butchered version that hit theaters in 2017. The film was originally helmed by Snyder. But because of the death of his daughter that Snyder had to deal with, Whedon immediately replaced Snyder.

Even though Snyder was close to finishing the film, Whedon had to make reshoots because DC Films wanted a different film from Snyder’s vision. Whedon practically had to reshoot most of the film. Because of this, it lost one of the most important plot points in the movie: Cyborg’s backstory.

Unfortunately, this experience was dreadful for some. While some people have been quiet about it, a few were vocal about the issues. Namely Fisher and Ben Affleck.

While Affleck hasn’t really said anything directly about Whedon himself, he did admit that the reshoots were “awful” and “the worst experience.” Because of it, he decided not to return as Batman in further installments of the franchise. Add the fact that he was going through a divorce at the time. This was the reason why we got Matt Reeves’ Robert Pattinson Batman instead of a Ben Affleck’s.

Ray Fisher on the other hand was more vocal about Whedon’s treatment of the cast and crew while filming Justice League. He tweeted several times regarding Whedon, and all other executives that headed DC Films. This included producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg and DC Films president Walter Hamada.

Fisher has said that one of them threatened him regarding his career if he tries to report his complaints through the proper channels. Fisher said that Johns himself threatened him. This is why Fisher is angry, because he felt like Hamada didn’t do enough to prevent this from happening.

Ever since, Fisher has declared that he has no intention of working with DC Films until he gets a formal apology from Hamada. On April 4, Geekosity founder Mikey Sutton said that was unlikely.

That has been a couple of years now. Fisher is back working alongside director Snyder on Rebel Moon. Rebel Moon is Snyder’s personal interpretation of Star Wars for Netflix. Aside from Cyborg, audiences also know Fisher for his role in ABC’s limited series Women of the Movement. Fisher also returned to theater with The Piano Lesson in St. James Theater.

Warner Bros. Discovery has done a lot to protect Ezra Miller. But we haven’t really seen any progress regarding Fisher’s demand for an apology from Hamada.

The only hint of vindication so far is that Hamada is leaving DC Films very soon.
