Nicolas Cage may actually reprise his role as Ghost Rider in the MCU. Although Nicolas Cage is likely definitely game on the idea, negotiations have yet to reach finality.

It was 2007 when the world witnessed Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider. This was a time even before the first Iron Man movie with Robert Downey Jr. that launched the MCU. Critically, Ghost Rider was on thin ice. In Rotten Tomatoes, it only had a 27% rating with 139 reviews and an Audience Score of 48%. Commercially though, the movie performed decently in the worldwide box office.

From a budget of $120 million, it generated $230 million globally. In fact, the movie got a green light for a sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, which premiered in theaters in 2012. Although the sequel had only a box office revenue of $149 million, it still is in the positive financial position. This is because the budget was only $57 million.

Those years, superhero movies were still finding their footing in the entertainment industry. Unlike today, superhero movies have branched beyond fantasy and science fiction. Superhero movies have successfully touched the drama and depth of contemporary films. In fact, superhero movies have been gaining critical acclaim in recent years, even winning in the Academy Awards.

Neither it is a secret that Cage takes on characters that allows him to explore his spectrum of talent. Cage has served up romance drama, romantic comedy, drama, action, adventure, suspense, and science fiction.

There was even a video skit depicting Cage taking on whatever role his agent gets him offered with.

Now, years later, Marvel Studios seems to want Cage back ablaze. According to Giant Freakin Robot, Marvel Studios is in position to bring not one, not two but three Ghost Riders into one frame. After all, they pulled that off in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Considering the multiverse, it’s highly possible. Cage as Johnny Blaze, Norman Reedus as Danny Ketch and Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes could meet in one project. All three could actually be in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Apparently, parties are in talks to bring Cage back. And, if all goes well, his Johnny Blaze will also be in Avengers: Secret Wars. Certainly, Marvel Studios has made it to a position that they can do whatever they want. In fact, they can bring in any character now in the MCU, whether big or small screen. And characters can be teamed up however they deem them fit.

The Multiverse Saga is positioning its chessmen. And it’s very likely that a few of their knights have skulls in flames.
