Gabriel Luna’s skull could be aflame once again as a new rumor reveals his possible return as Marvel’s Ghost Rider.

According to the latest report, Marvel Studios seeks Gabriel Luna as the supernatural motorcyclist once again.

With Wanda Vision and the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU has opened the gates to Hell.

Marvel Studios has kept Ghost Rider in chains for years.

Sony released two Ghost Rider movies starring Nicolas Cage.

However, 2007’s Ghost Rider and 2012’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance didn’t exactly set the world on fire.

Critics burned both of Cage’s films.

While pre-MCU audiences ignored the B-movie flaws of Ghost Rider, the sequel already felt dated.

The Kevin Feige makeover of superhero films was underway.

Spirit of Vengeance lacked the sharp writing and sleek action of its MCU cousins.

Sony agreed and sent Ghost Rider back home.

Upon his arrival, though, it was Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb who took the character for a ride.

Instead of Cage’s Johnny Blaze, though, Loeb opted for his latest incarnation, Robbie Reyes.

On Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Gabriel Luna gave Ghost Rider a sense of warmth and grounded sensibility that the Sony movies lacked.

Fans praised his portrayal of Reyes, and they were among the series’ best episodes.

However, Ghost Rider’s special effects were too pricey for an ABC TV budget.

After Reyes rode off, he was supposed to return wit his own series on Hulu.

Furthermore, this was going to be more violent, away from network television censors.

But then Marvel Studios presiden Kevin Feige took over Marvel TV; he put a freeze on Ghost Rider.

Since that time, Marvel Studios has been developing Ghost Rider for the Midnight Sons, the group of horror and dark anti-heroes including Blade, Moon Knight, and Werewolf by Night.

Nevertheless, Feige apparently wanted Blaze instead of Reyes, at least for now.

The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus publicly expressed enthusiasm for the role.

My own sources confirm that, yes, Feige does have interest in reviving Reyes with Gabriel Luna.

However, Blaze is still his top choice.

But with multiverse variants popping through the MCU, there is space for Gabriel Luna to occupy if just for a limited time.
