MCU Spider-Woman Film Could Set Up Tom Holland Appearance

The Spider-Woman film will be in the MCU, setting up a meeting with Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man.

With Spider-Man: No Way Home, many wonder what’s next for Spider-Man-related characters.

In other words, Sony has the Spider-Verse to itself; what else will they share with Marvel Studios? According to a new report, it’s Spider-Woman.

Into the Spider-Verse

In addition to Morbius, Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web, Sony hired Olivia Wilde to direct the first female-led Spider-Verse movie.

On March 1, 2021, Geekosity Editor-in-Chief Mikey Sutton scooped that:

A source is confident that Spider-Woman will end up in the MCU as Kevin Feige thinks highly of the character.

Nevertheless, the decision is beyond Feige’s personal preferences.

After all, one version of Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew, is a part of the Secret Invasion story arc.

Marvel Studios is adapting Secret Invasion for Disney Plus.

The puzzle pieces fit together.

Moreover, Sony and Disney share Drew’s rights.

More specifically, this is how it works: Sony can produce a Spider-Woman movie with Drew.

Unfortunately for Sony, there’s a catch.

Absent will be her roots with the High Evolutionary, HYDRA or S.H.I.E.L.D.,  all Disney IPs.

On the other hand, Marvel Studios can freely utilize Drew without Sony’s approval; she just can’t be Spider-Woman.

With this in mind, it looks like Sony and Disney reached a deal. Sutton leaked the negotiations in April 26, 2021.

Enter Spider-Man

In fact, the plan then was to have Tom Holland cameo in Spider-Woman.

From a business perspective, it makes sense.

Or dollars and cents. Indeed, Tom Holland in Spider-Woman, even a brief appearance, fuels the box office.

At the same time, Tom Holland in Spider-Woman expands Marvel Studios’ web of storytelling.

MCU head Kevin Feige now has a female Spider-Verse superhero to refresh the formula.

Spider-Woman has been a character that many Marvel fans have eagerly anticipated since Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man.

Therefore, it’s a no brainer that Sony would want to make Spider-Woman given her popularity.

Neither Sony nor Marvel Studios have commented if Spider-Woman is part of their new agreement.

Wilde revealed Feige’s involvement in Spider-Woman in an interview months ago. Oops.

LOL, Sony, LOL.

Casting

Honestly, it doesn’t matter. Prepare yourself for casting denials and grainy images of Tom Holland and Emilia Clarke as Spider-Woman.

Wait, what?

Clarke is in Secret Invasion; could she be Drew?

On April 20, 2021, an insider said that Emilia Clarke is most likely Abigail Brand.

So which is it?

Marvel Studios auditions actors for different role.

She could end up being Mephisto for all we know. (She’s not Mephisto.)

Welcome home, Jessica.
