Spider-Woman Film MCU Tom Holland Cameo

Sony’s Spider-Woman film could be set in the MCU and feature a cameo from Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland.

The future of the Spider-Verse is set to grow even bigger now in the MCU with the recent new Sony/Disney deal.

The agreement brings Sony’s library of films to Disney Plus after a brief exclusive window on Netflix.

Geekosity has learned that Olivia Wilde’s female led Spider-Verse movie is centered around the Jessica Drew version of the character.

Sony and Marvel Studios would like Holland to cameo.

On March 1, we reported that Sony and Disney had talks about the Jessica Drew Spider-Woman in the MCU.

Apparently, those discussions are on the verge of delivering results.

Insiders told Geekosity that Spider-Woman’s presence in the MCU was integral to the new streaming arrangement.

Spider-Woman will land on Disney Plus once Sony’s prior deal with rival streaming service Netflix expires.

An insider revealed to us:

Disney wants all these Spider-Verse movies on their network once they’re off Netflix. Once that was agreed to, Marvel Studios was open to more collaborations with Sony beyond Holland’s Peter Parker.

This announcement opened the door to countless possibilities for both companies, much to the excitement of fans.

Questions about whether Sony’s planned Spider-Verse spin offs will be connected to the MCU seemed to have been answered.

Drew, the original Spider-Woman, has been in a complicated situation regarding her film rights for a while now.

Sony wants Jessica Drew and her Hydra/S.H.I.E.L.D background, which Marvel has the rights to.

However, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has big plans for her Sony-owned alter ego Spider-Woman.

In other words, it only makes sense for them both to team up.

Sources leaked that both studios are close to finalizing the decision to have Spider-Woman enter the MCU and eventually join the Avengers.

Spider-Woman debuted in Marvel Spotlight No. 32 in 1977.

She was intended to be a one-off character.

But her popularity substantially increased in January 2005 when The New Avengers launched.

She was reintroduced as a member of the team.

However, it was later revealed that this was in fact an Skrull impersonating the hero, a plot thread which would eventually lead into 2009’s Secret Invasion storyline.

Kevin Feige announced the Secret Invasion Disney Plus series in December 2020.

The puzzle pieces are there; it’s just waiting to see if they will connect.

The Spider-Woman film was announced back in August 2020 with Olivia Wilde set to direct.

When she was interviewed about the project she couldn’t reveal whether or not it would be a Spider-Woman movie but she did accidentally confirm that Feige will be involved with the project.

Here’s what Olivia Wilde let slip:

All I can say is that this is by far the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to me because not only do I feel like I get to tell a story that… God, like, listen to me trying to avoid like Kevin Feige’s pellet gun.

Nevertheless, Geekosity has not confirmed if Drew will appear in Secret Invasion.

As for the movie in the MCU, bear in mind it’s not yet finalized yet but it’s looking good for both companies and the character.
