Henry Cavill will wear his blue costume in Black Adam. In September, YouTube personality Syl Abdul scooped that Cavill has his Man of Steel outfit in Black Adam. We covered Abdul’s report on September 23.

In other words, Henry Cavill won’t have his black threads from Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Therefore, a portion of fandom likely won’t receive the news well. After all, a number of Snyder fans remain concerned that Joss Whedon’s Justice League is canonized in the DCEU. Indeed, the black costume didn’t exist in Whedon’s version. Therefore, the assumption is that the Rock’s movie follows Whedon’s film.

And if Black Adam considers Whedon’s flop makeover the real deal, will the rest of the DCEU do, too? But that theory doesn’t work. Kiersey Clemons returns in The Flash, and she didn’t appear in Whedon’s movie. Instead, she only appeared in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Warner Bros. can’t canonize both.

A Black Adam TV spot added to the confusion. Initially, it included two seconds of footage from Whedon’s Justice League. Consequently, the Rock felt the wrath of angry SnyderVerse followers.

Afterwards, the trailer immediately cut the offending scene scenes. The Rock then posted “Corrected” on social media and added a fist bump.

However, was that enough to calm nervous SnyderVerse fans? While the blue outfit will again raise questions, the situation needs to be seen objectively. Superman’s traditional costume is blue. It’s what everyone knows. When Superman debuted in Action Comics No. 1 in 1938, he wore the blue. The point is this: Whedon doesn’t own the blue outfit. As a matter of fact, Henry Cavill had the blue costume in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.

The DCEU pursues the SnyderVerse timeline.

Nonetheless, when Cavill doesn’t wear the black outfit in Black Adam‘s post-credits scene, expect some controversy. Ironically, insiders reveal the Rock and Warner Bros. Discovery don’t want to interfere with Snyder’s work. The black costume is unique to Snyder’s version although he adapted it from the comics, too.

In summary, a recent screening of Black Adam unveiled which one they chose. There’s no going back. The most important thing is that Cavill indeed returns.
