Gal Gadot Might Still Remain As Wonder Woman

Recent interaction with DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn implies that Gal Gadot is not exactly out as Wonder Woman. The idea about Gal Gadot no longer getting to play Wonder Woman in the new 10-year plan for DC Studios is likely due to two things. First, Wonder Woman 3 with director Patty Jenkins is no longer happening. And two, Henry Cavill is no longer portraying Superman “after all”.

Indeed, many are speculating their own scenarios as to the future direction of the DCU of DC Studios. Until co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran present their plan to the public, anything can happen. Understandably, the bits of information they have revealed so far planted some thoughts to avid fans.

When one follower commented about looking forward to the future that they are laying out despite booting Cavill and Gadot, Gunn was quick to react. His response makes it clear that they only have Gadot as their Wonder Woman, for now at least.

When the fan said:

Cannot wait to see what you’re cooking up… That being said, the move to boot Cavill and Gadot (especially after they’d announced their return) doesn’t inspire confidence.

Gunn replied he doesn’t know where the fan got the idea that they “booted” Gal Gadot.

This just brings back the discussion to “so what’s going to happen now?”

Come to think of it, it was just the script that Jenkins submitted that they did not give the go signal to. Like what we have mentioned before, the co-CEOs have still to reveal their plans. However, it’s clear that they do have a specific vision on how to move forward. And Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 doesn’t satisfy their vision.

Still, as a fan, I think that it would be weird to keep Gadot but drop Cavill. Even though there are a number of scenarios that this can happen, it just isn’t fair. It isn’t fair to Cavill and just as equally if not even more, to the fans of his Superman.

There is no question as to Gadot’s ability to portray the Amazon princess. For quite some time, people couldn’t imagine another Diana Prince than Lynda Carter. But Gadot came on screen and captured everyone’s hearts.

These are probably among those times that we do wish we have her Lasso of Truth. Once and for all the fandom would like to use it and ask the question whether DC Studios truly knows what they are doing? Could we trust them to safeguard the stories we have loved all these decades?

Gunn and Safran have expressed that they know their plan will not delight everybody. They know a good number of fans will be unhappy. Yet they still tread forward. For what it’s worth, I do hope they do good for the franchise.

There’s no other way from here.
