Director Patty Jenkins Rips Apart Wonder Woman 3 Rumors

Director Patty Jenkins tears apart reports that she exited Wonder Woman 3. In fact, she claims the opposite happened. On Twitter, Jenkins shed light on the truth.

Well, at least her perspective on the matter.

This is truly a he said-she said situation. Quite frankly, those expecting Warner Bros. Discovery to have better relationships with creative personnel might cringe. For now, it doesn’t seem like the new regime has put out any fires. In fact, it may have created new ones.

Granted, we can’t jump to conclusions. Still, we can only interpret what we hear. And it doesn’t inspire confidence going forward.

First of all, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Warner Bros. Discovery rejected Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 script treatment. That part was accurate. Then The Wrap piled on. They added that Jenkins refused to change her story and walked off the film.

Patty Jenkins disputed those allegations on Twitter. She stated:

When there started being backlash about WW3 not happening, the attractive clickbait false story that it was me that killed it or walked away started to spread. This is simply not true. I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now.

If this is true, it’s unknown why DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran refused to give her another pass at it.

For the record, Gunn replied to her on Twitter. He said:

I can attest that all of Peter and my interactions with you were only pleasant and professional.

To be frank, it sounds like damage control; however, it doesn’t answer her claims of essentially being fired. Or not being given a second chance.

We may never know what really transpired here. For now, Wonder Woman 3 hangs in limbo. While we doubted Gal Gadot will depart from the role, this might turn personal. After all, Gadot and Patty Jenkins are close friends. On the other hand, this is business. Gadot could easily place her career over how DC Studios may have treated Jenkins.

All in all, it sounds like a mess. Given the secrecy at DC Studios at the moment, our imaginations can only conjure visions of drama. Same as it ever was.
