Dan Slott confirmed the return of Superior Spider-Man in a new comic-book series. Spider-Mania is sweeping through the world with the long-awaited release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
The first movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, instantly became one of the most beloved superhero movies of all time. Earning universal acclaim and even winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature at the 2019 Academy Awards.
Furthermore, the sequel is looking to go above and beyond with some believing it to be better than the initial installment.
In its opening weekend, the movie grossed over $200 million worldwide nearly over taking the original’s global haul.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s theatrical run ended with over $300 million for Sony Pictures against a $90 million budget. In addition, there are already calls for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to be nominated Best Picture overall.

Should the third picture be just as successful, we’ll likely have a new contender for the greatest trilogy. As a result, fans are diving back into their favorite Spider-Man comics, movies, cartoons and video games in preparation.
Moreover, Marvel has used this as an opportunity to announce a new comic book run starring the Superior Spider-Man.
Longtime Marvel Comics writer Dan Slott will return to write this upcoming book. Marvel made this unexpected announcement via their Twitter account on Saturday.
Dan Slott’s Superior Spider-Man story revolved around classic Spidey foe Doctor Octopus, who was slowly dying from decay. In an attempt to save his own life, he implanted his mind into Peter Parker’s body effectively becoming Spider-Man. This also meant that Parker’s consciousness was transferred into his enemy’s withered dying body.
When Octopus’ body ultimately succumbed to decay, Parker’s mind seemingly died along with it.
Vowing to be a better hero that Parker ever was, Octopus became the Superior Spider-Man.

Nonetheless, this run eventually ended with the original Spider-Man regaining control of his body after Octopus sacrificed himself.
However, a copy of the villain’s consciousness was later implanted into a clone of Parker.
For a while, Octopus would continue to operate as the Superior Spider-Man until making a deal with Mephisto.
This saw him return to his original body and also giving up his wall-crawler persona for good.
Thanks to this and his Spider-Verse tales, Dan Slott became one of the defining Spider-Man writers. Dan Slott joins the ranks of co-creator Stan Lee and Roger Stern.
How Dan Slott will continue the Superior Spider-Man’s story will continue in this upcoming series is anyone’s guess.
Given the size of the Spider-Verse, there are endless possibilities.
