Black Adam Almost Has Same Rotten Tomatoes Score As Man Of Steel

Black Adam nearly has the same Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score as Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. On June 19, I revealed that Man of Steel influenced Black Adam. A number of critics later pointed out the similarities. Thus, my sources were correct. However, I didn’t realize their Rotten Tomatoes would nearly match, too.

Critics have targeted Snyder throughout his career. Reviewers polled by Rotten Tomatoes slammed Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Granted, the Ultimate Edition of BvS provided a longer, superior version of that film. Although critics liked his Watchmen well enough (65%), they largely don’t understand his work.

Certainly, studio interference has hurt him. Zack Snyder’s Justice League acquired far better feedback than director Joss Whedon’s theatrical blasphemy.

Several media outlets have thrown the spotlight on Black Adam‘s polarized responses. They did this with BvS in 2016. They’re doing it with Black Adam now. After all, fan rage equals valuable clicks, especially among DC fans.

Unfortunately, there are people out there who let Rotten Tomatoes grades guide their ticket purchases. If that’s the case, Man of Steel at 56% is only 1% higher than Black Adam. In other words, if you loved Man of Steel, you should question the tastes of Rotten Tomatoes‘ various critics. True, Black Adam could rise higher or fall lower before its Friday debut.

Nonetheless, I’ll be blunt. Don’t let anyone discourage you from seeing Black Adam. Watch it for yourself.

On the other hand, across nerd culture, rave reviews pop up. For example, the YouTube channel Nuke the Fridge loved Black Adam. Nuke the Fridge isn’t small fly, either. As a matter of fact, it has 35,000 subscribers. Content creator Luis Lecca called Black Adam “one of the best superhero movies in years.”

The Rock listened. A Black Adam ad quoted Lecca. Lecca added that “the trailers didn’t do it justice.” He also revealed “there are some amazing action sequences on par with Man of Steel.”

High praise.

Sadly, the Rotten Tomatoes negativity will drown out the positive voices of pop-culture commentators like Lecca. Nonetheless, on October 21 people will vote with their wallets. In the end, that’s worth more than Rotten Tomatoes.
