X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn named three actors who could replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
Rumors still fly about Hugh Jackman’s possible return as Wolverine.
The gossip is directed towards Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
That’s no surprise.
The Doctor Strange sequel brims with cameo leaks.
Undoubtedly Hugh Jackman is the big fish.
However, if Marvel Studios catches him, it’ll be temporary.
After all, he’s 53.
Marvel Studios needs a younger Wolverine going forward.
Whoever the new actor is, Marvel Studios will sign him to a lengthy contract.
That’s what they do.
Indeed, it’s an investment.
But who can fill Hugh Jackman’s shoes?
For over 20 years, audiences have only known Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
He’s embedded in everyone’s hearts.
Nevertheless, Vaughn revealed his choices.
Whether or not Marvel Studios agrees with him remains to be seen.
Still, they’re worthy of discussion and speculation.

Tom Hardy
Fans selected Hardy in the past.
Certainly, Hardy has the build and the charm. Vaughn explained his choice:
Well, he’s got older now, but I would say Tom Hardy would have…been awesome.
Unfortunately, this is unlikely.
Hardy is Venom.
Now that Sony’s Venom franchise connects to the MCU, it won’t work.
The double shift will confuse audiences.
Furthermore, the scheduling conflicts would be difficult to overcome.
But Hardy is set as Venom.

Taron Egerton
Of Vaughn’s selections, Egerton is possible.
First of all, Egerton is only 32.
He’s still young.
Secondly, unlike Hardy, he has no superhero franchise associated with the MCU.
Yes, Egerton’s Kingsman movies are based on comic books.
Nonetheless, they’re set in their own world.
But would fans accept Egerton as Wolverine?
Again, replacing Hugh Jackman is nearly an impossible task.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Like Egerton, Taylor-Johnson is a Mark Millar vet.
Both his Kick-Ass and Egerton’s Kingsman are based on Millar comics.
Unfortunately, he has something in common with Hardy.
Perhaps the wrong thing.
Sony signed Taylor-Johnson as Kraven the Hunter.
Like Hardy’s Venom, Kraven will cross over into the MCU.
On the other hand, thanks to the multiverse, actors could play multiple roles in the MCU.
Still, it’s doubtful that Marvel Studios would attempt it.
Hugh Jackman is one in a million.
Marvel Studios will have to dig hard to find the new Wolverine.
