What If Season 2 And Captain Carter Revealed by Executive Producer

Brad Winderbaum, executive producer of the animated series What If…? just revealed that a season 2 is coming and we’ll be seeing more of Captain Carter.

During the global press conference for What If…?, Winderbaum said:

We had to push an episode into Season 2. It was just, honestly, like everything else, that was a COVID impact. There was an episode that just wouldn’t hit the completion date, but luckily, we do get to see it in the second season of the show. Season 2 will also be 9.

Originally, the show was planned to have 10 before the Pandemic struck.

One episode was moved to the second season instead.

Making the first season to have a total of 9 episodes instead of the originally planned 10.

He also confirmed that the second season will have 9 episodes too.

Winderbaum added:

We realized early on in development as we were starting to get [AC Bradley’s] scripts and starting to look at the arc of the series that there was going to be a character that bubbled up and became more important. Not more important than the rest, but [one who] had a strong relationship with The Watcher, who is really our driving force behind the series, and that’s Captain Carter. And we realized as we started developing the second season that Captain Carter was going to be the character who we would revisit in every season and continue that adventure.

It’s great to hear the we’ll be seeing more of Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter in the animated series.

She is confirmed to reprise her role as Peggy Carter in the show.

It is also confirmed that the first episode of “What If…?” will tell the story of Agent Carter receiving the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers

We’ve also reported that Captain Carter may show up in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness” which stars Benedict Cumberbatch.

Brad Winderbaum also confirmed in an interview with Kakuchopurei:

The potential is there for characters from What If…? to appear in live-action, I would say.

Loki’s actions in the recent Disney+ series resulted in everything happening in “What If…?” turning into a reality in some other universe.

But this also means that any character you see in “What If…?” has the potential to show up in the movies or even the live action TV shows.

Is this a hint that we’ll be seeing Hayley Atwell again, in her Captain suit no less?

“What If…?” is an animated anthology series that tells stories which we are familiar with in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but twists them to tell a different possibility.

The animated series is scheduled to be released in Disney+ streaming service starting August 11, 2021.
