Marvel Studios is reportedly targeting Henry Cavill for Captain Britain. Per Giant Freakin Robot, Marvel Studios eyes the former Superman as Captain Britain. In fact, they want Cavill to debut in Captain America: New World Order.
Furthermore, this isn’t the first time. In October 2019, I revealed on Pete’s Basement that Cavill became the front runner for Captain Britain. At the time, DC Films had no future plans to bring Cavill back as Superman. Therefore, Marvel Studios had the opportunity to poach Cavill from their competition. Nevertheless, the trail went cold for two years.
However, on March 1, 2021, I scooped that Marvel Studios still sought Cavill for Captain Britain. But negotiations never happened. It didn’t go that far. Marvel Studios simply winked. Cavill smiled back. Still, no project existed then. Now, though? DC Studios booted Cavill. Swiped left. Will Marvel Studios take him?

This GFR report answers that question. The site explained that:
Our trusted and proven sources tell us that Marvel wants Henry Cavill to play the mystical hero Brian Braddock aka Captain Britain. If it happens, Cavill would debut as Brian Braddock in 2024’s Captain America: New World Order.
In other words, Marvel Studios found a movie to introduce Cavill’s Captain Britain. Rumors and speculation have connected Cavill to potential MCU characters such as Hyperion and Sentry. Neither have materialized. In addition, they seem far-fetched, more like fan casting. For example, I doubt Disney would pay Cavill’s hefty salary for Hyperion’s small role in Loki.
Secondly, Henry Cavill stated he likes Captain Britain. In The Hollywood Reporter, he revealed:
However, I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British.

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn crushed the hearts of DC fans with Superman’s recasting. After Cavill’s Black Adam post-credit cameo, DC Studios pulled an agonizing bait-and-switch. A new Superman film movie will go forward, but without Cavill. Ouch.
If Cavill signs on as Captain Britain, the MCU will pull off the steal of the century. With Cavill, Marvel Studios can present the two sides of Captain Britain. As a member of the British intelligence agency MI-13, they can show Captain Britain’s James Bond other half, Brian Braddock. Imagine a hybrid of 007, Superman, and Captain America. No benching here. MVP.
Champions don’t reboot; rather, they reload. Always.
And Cavill is a weapon of mass destruction. DC Studios’ loss? Marvel Studios’ gain. Maybe.
