Moon Knight To Appear In Future MCU Films

Moon Knight could appear in MCU films and TV shows for a decade. Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab revealed the character’s potential longevity in a recent interview. Diab said:

I can see him in the next 10 years, not just the next film. He’s a very interesting character. He’s probably the most interesting character for any actor to play. Oscar [Isaac] is doing a great job. People already like him even from the trailer. I think the show’s going to resonate with people, so I see him staying for a long time.

In fact, Diab is very happy with star Oscar Isaac‘s performance. He even wishes that Moon Knight gets his own MCU movie. He cited characters that were first seen in MCU films then had their streaming series such as WandaVision and Loki.

In addition, Diab explained the character development between TV and film. For example, WandaVision dived into the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) more than the movies did. The progression of exposure helped achieve this. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness explores her further. Likewise, Lokis second season on Disney Plus promises more growth for Tom Hiddleston.

But the progression of exposure is not predictable. Things can change with each project to project. The series’ showrunner Jeremy Slater even wishes for Moon Knight to join the Avengers. He even disclosed that if it were just up to him, Moon Knight would be in the Avengers. However, for now there’s a carefully created series about one of the MCU’s most complex characters.

Oscar Isaac plays Moon Knight. He’s Steven Grant, a mild-mannered employee of a local gift shop. Grant somehow experiences blackouts and recalls memories of another life. He’s diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder and finds out that he shares a consciousness or existence with a mercenary named Marc Spector. Spector is also known as Moon Knight.

Certain events unfold where Grant and Spector share the same body. Somehow they end up in the middle of a mystery surrounding powerful Egyptian gods.

The MCU aims for weird in Moon Knight.

The complexity of the character alone can merit a theatrical feature. We look forward to seeing this complexity captured in the series. As the series will be a progression of episodes, the audience can truly absorb the struggles Grant is going through.

Mixing these with the conflicts he somehow comes to encounter, it’ll truly be spellbinding. For Isaac to pull off this split-personality of a role, it’s not an easy task. However, Diab already commends him for his abilities.

Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy join Isaac in the series as part of the cast. Moon Knight streams on Disney Plus on March 30, 2022.
