Melissa Benoist Interested In Returning As Supergirl

Superman & Lois star Elizabeth “Bitsie” Tulloch has revealed that Melissa Benoist wants to appear on the show as Supergirl.

It’s no secret that DC’s been struggling to get a shared cinematic universe off the ground for a while now. Indeed, director Zack Snyder’s absence left the DCEU without a cohesive future.

On the contrary, DC continued to find success at building a shared universe on television with the CW’s Arrowverse.

While the Arrowverse might not have been for everyone, no one can deny that they perfectly cast their characters. Most notably their main trio, Green Arrow (Stephen Amell), The Flash (Grant Gustin), and Supergirl (Melissa Benoist).

However, with The Flash’s upcoming ninth season being its last, the Arrowverse will have reached its end. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean that the actors won’t rule out a possible return to their roles.

For example, Amell has already expressed his interest in returning for a possible Arrow revival in the future. In addition, Melissa Benoist is open to revisiting her role as Supergirl.

At this year’s Fan Expo in Canada, Superman & Lois stars, Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth “Bitsie” Tulloch were in attendance. During a Q&A with fans, they were asked about rumors of an appearance from Benoist’s Supergirl.

While Hoechlin offered but praise for his on-screen cousin, this is what Tulloch had to say about the rumors:

We have not heard that rumor about her coming on the show. She has expressed interest to me in doing it, and I know that we would love to work with her again and Grant and everyone else. I just don’t know…ever since we started the show, COVID has been a reality which is why we haven’t done any of the crossovers or anything like that, so we just can’t speak to whether or not that’s feasible.

As of right now it seems there are currently no plans to have Benoist’s Supergirl appear on the show. Furthermore, it’s been made clear that while being a spin-off of Supergirl, Superman & Lois is set outside the Arrowverse.

That doesn’t mean that an appearance from Benoist as a new version of Supergirl isn’t completely off the table, though.

If Supergirl had their own version of Superman then Superman & Lois could also have their own version of Supergirl.
