Jon Bernthal's The Punisher Will Make MCU Debut In Charlie Cox' Daredevil Reboot

Jon Bernthal‘s the Punisher is planned to appear on Charlie Cox’ Daredevil MCU reboot.

On Sunday, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige confirmed Charlie Cox will return as Daredevil in the MCU.

The Netflix Defenders are coming back.

To some of you, it’s old news.

After all, I scooped they’d come back on September 15, 2019.

Feige had no intentions of recasting many Defenders.

Nevertheless, that didn’t stop other outlets from saying otherwise.

Charlie Cox is official now.

Moreover, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin will follow.

Who’s next?

In October, Small Screen revealed that Jon Bernthal was negotiating for a Punisher series in the MCU.

We covered that story as well.

At the time of my original Punisher scoop, the focus was on Jon Bernthal’s new MCU Punisher series.

Sources close to me revealed in July 2020 that the reboot was called Punisher War Journal.

However, that title was tentative.

But insiders claimed that Marvel Studios wanted to separate this Punisher from its Netflix predecessor.

Thus, the name change.

Moreover, it pays homage to an ’80s Punisher comic book. (A young Jim Lee even had a good run on it.)

Marvel Studios is moving forward with their Punisher plans.

Sources add that Marvel Studios wants to reintroduce the Punisher in the Daredevil show.

But will Jon Bernthal want to come back?

In a recent interview, Jon Bernthal reaffirmed his interest.

Nevertheless, he walks away if the Punisher isn’t dark.

He said:

I think if there’s any let up on that character, you do a disservice to the character, to every iteration of the character, to every comic book that’s come before, and to all of the unbelievable fans of the character. This character means so much to people in the military. So like I said before, it’s not about whether you do the character; it’s about whether you can do it right, and I’m only interested in doing it right.

Without a doubt, fans are concerned about the Punisher’s future.

For them, the issue is Disney Plus.

Netflix’ The Punisher was definitely for adults.

But Disney Plus doesn’t broadcast R-rated fare.

At least not in the U.S.

Beyond the U.S., Disney Plus does have the Star content hub.

Star does stream R-rated material within Disney Plus.

Likewise, Disney is considering it for America.

Insiders explain that Feige will not water down the Punisher.

Nonetheless, for Jon Bernthal’s MCU debut, multiple sources are adamant.

It will happen on the new Daredevil series.

An insider stated:

You’re going to see Daredevil, the Kingpin, and the Punisher face one another.

Bring it on.
