As the DC fandom conditions itself for a new Superman, a fan reached out to director Christopher McQuarrie to helm. His reaction is quite funny. One thing you can be sure of is that those rooting for the DC universe are very resilient.

Some fans are ready to give a new Superman a chance despite the circumstances. Simply because they love the character. There is no question about Superman being on the sidelines for more than a handful of years. It’s just that big disappointment of not seeing what they have been hoping for.

But then, what can fans do? What’s left at their disposal is their hope that the new story will do justice to the franchise. These are characters they grew up reading and watching over the years. Of course, they will have preferences on casting and directing of the movie adaptation.

Christopher McQuarrie is one of those directors who’ve captured the taste of the audience for action-packed adventure scenes. Perhaps even delivering suspenseful stories as well. His previous works, especially those with Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible and Jack Reacher makes him more than superhero-ready.

As a writer, he proves he is also more than capable of bringing a heroic story to the big screen. Let’s not forget that his 1995 movie The Usual Suspects got him his Academy Award for Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen. And that movie alone got him several other awards as a writer.

However, we all know that James Gunn is busy with the new Superman screenplay. The dust may be settling now as fans wonder who the director for the upcoming movie could be. The suggestion of having Christopher McQuarrie as the Superman helm is very promising for a number of followers. They are welcoming the thought.

But, the director himself responded to the fan-notion. Given that he may most likely not have the time due to current engagements, he posted a funny reply. That one where he even tagged Pom Klementieff as someone with unimaginable power.

When movie buff suggested he direct the movie on Twitter, McQuarrie responded:

James and I don’t have the capacity to collaborate until we’re each finished harnessing the unimaginable power of @PomKlementieff. Have a great holiday.

To which, the actress also responded but with only three hearts.

Of course, it is no secret that the actress has worked with Gunn through Guardians of the Galaxy and that one scene in Peacemaker – yes she was there. She is also in the upcoming movies for Mission: Impossible.

If Gunn is keen on getting his younger Superman in flight soon, then McQuarrie might be off the table. To say the least, McQuarrie is in deep production with Mission: Impossible.

Thus, as fans, we stand by again. Who do you think will be the director for the new Superman feature?
