Charlize Theron admits she’s unaware of Marvel Studios’ plans for Clea. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Of Madness was jam-packed with appearances from various fan favorite characters. Mister Fantastic and Professor X making their long awaited MCU debuts in the film.

In addition, the mid-credits scene introduced another popular Marvel Comics character to the franchise: Charlize Theron’s Clea. In the comics, Clea is the niece of the dark dimension’s ruler and Doctor Strange’s mortal enemy, Dormammu. She made her first comic-book appearance in Strange Tales No. 126 back in November 1964.

Moreover, she eventually fell in love with Doctor Strange and would later become his wife. Furthermore, Clea would end up taking on the mantle of the sorcerer supreme following her husband’s tragic death. Her unexpected cameo at the end of Multiverse of Madness was a welcome surprise.

She informed Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) that he’d caused an incursion and demanded he’d come with her to fix it. Charlize Theron looked perfect as Clea. Still, since the movie’s release there’s been no word on when or where we’ll see Clea show up next.

Nonetheless, there’s no doubt that the magical pair will return to the MCU for the next Avengers film.

That hasn’t stopped curiosity about what’s to come from this cliffhanger down the road. Theron recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and was unsurprisingly asked about her role as Clea and her MCU future.

She played it coy. After all, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige maybe had a sniper in the audience in case of spoilers. She said:

I hope the cameo’s not it, but we’ll see, yes, I think I know, I mean unless, I’m sure they can change their mind, depending on what I say on this show!

Despite this, she did offer some insight into her preparation for the role. Theron added:

I play Clea… and… let’s just say I have some work to do. I don’t quite know who she is yet, but I will.

Unlike Mark Ruffalo and Tom Holland, Theron is acting more tight-lipped about what comes next for her character. Nonetheless, she’s also still figuring out who Clea is so it’s highly likely we’ll see her again in the next future.
