Charlie Cox To Begin Filming Daredevil: Born Again Soon

Charlie Cox reveals shooting dates for the Disney Plus series Daredevil: Born Again.

Daredevil: Born Again is on schedule for release in Spring 2024. No exact date has been in the official announcements. Needless to say, details about the show are very scarce. We don’t even know if Netflix veterans Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson would be returning. Even though they weren’t superheroes like Daredevil, both actors were very much the heart of the original series.

Currently it is the longest series that Marvel Studios plans to release. 2023 is already here, and we haven’t heard anything about Daredevil: Born Again yet. However, Charlie Cox did give us a little tidbit from his interview with NME.

All 2023. I start shooting in February and finish in December.

No doubt that the shooting schedule is long. Cox has a busy year ahead. Daredevil: Born Again is going to be 18 episodes long. The original series from Netflix had 13 episodes per season. Meanwhile, Marvel Studios shows are typically six episodes with the exception of What If…? and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law which both had nine episodes. Even Cox wondered about the long series. He shares his opinion about it:

I’m fascinated to discover why they’ve chosen to do 18. I’m imagining there’s going to be an element to it that is like the old-school procedural show. Not necessarily case-of-the-week, but something where we go really deep into Matt Murdock the lawyer and get to see what his life is like. If that’s done right and he really gets his hands dirty with that world… I think there’s something quite interesting about that, to spend a lot of time in a superhero’s day-to-day life and you really earn the moments when he suits up.

The new show is presumed to be loosely based on the “Born Again” story arc Frank Miller wrote. Although there would be drastic changes to this because the second and third season of Netflix’s Daredevil already adapted parts of it. We doubt that they’ll be telling the same story for 18 episodes. Also, the series is in not a continuation of the Netflix series. In fact, the production designs it to stand on its own.

So, at the moment, Daredevil: Born Again could have retained only the title of the comic book. And “Born Again” is more symbolic to Charlie Cox returning to the role. But we will see. Cox added some of his expectations about the show:

It will be dark but it probably won’t be as gory, We’ve done that. Let’s take the things that really worked, but can we broaden? Can we appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing what we’ve learned about what works?

This statement led to fans worrying about the new show. It’s the adult appeal that really hit it right with the viewers. Then again, Cox is merely speculating. When Daredevil showed up in She-Hulk he’s a completely different character. While it was nice to see a different and fun side of Daredevil, fans wonder if this is the same character in Born Again. On the other hand, She-Hulk is a legal comedy.

The idea of reaching younger audiences while maintaining its dark story telling is interesting to Cox. At the moment, rumors maintain that the show is at the age rating of TV-MA.
