Black Widow Post-Credits Sets Up Epic Confrontation on Disney Plus

The Black Widow post-credits scene sets up a confrontation on an upcoming Disney Plus series.

The following delivers spoilers; avoid if you wish.

Every time we watch an MCU movie, we always expect that something juicy is in the post-credits scene.

We’ve been trained by Marvel Studios never to leave the theaters until the very last part of the film has been shown.

Consequently, fans expected Black Widow to bring the goods.

After all, it’d feel weird if a Marvel movie is without one.

Black Widow doesn’t disappoint.

In fact, it provides substantial evidence that Marvel Studios’ film and TV projects now seriously connect and affect each other.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige doesn’t mess around.

In Avengers: Endgame, there was a critical scene there where Clint Barton (Hawkeye) and Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) were on the planet Vormir with the Red Skull (Ross Marquand).

The Red Skull is the guardian of the Soul Stone.

He told them that one must sacrifice what they love.

It was a dramatic moment because they knew that one of them will have to die.

Barton was about to sacrifice himself so that Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) can get the Soul Stone.

Romanoff fought to stop him from killing himself.

The scene was intense not because of the fight, but because they knew what they were getting into.

They were fighting to keep their friend alive.

In the end, Black Widow was able to put herself in a position where Hawkeye didn’t have a choice.

Romanoff was in a place where if Barton lets go of her hand, she will die.

Barton didn’t want to let go.

Romanoff told him that “It’s okay” to let her go.

At the end of the scene, Hawkeye got hold of the Soul Stone but with great regret that he was not able to stop her from sacrificing herself.

Black Widow tells the story after Captain America: Civil War (2016) but before Avengers: Infinity War (2018).

In short, during the time Captain America and half of the Avengers were in hiding.

The post-credits sequence picks up after the events of Endgame.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus reprises her role as the enigmatic Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.

She debuted in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney Plus.

She sneaks up on Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) as she visits Romanoff’s grave.

Belova is Romanoff’s sister.

Fontaine explains to Belova that Barton (Jeremy Renner) is responsible for Black Widow’s death.

Her next mission is to target Barton.

Mission?

Belova is working for Fontaine.

Fontaine is obviously forming the Thunderbolts, a group of anti-heroes and gray villains.

If Belova joins the Thunderbolts, that would mean the Avengers is without a Black Widow.

On June 4, we scooped that Johansson isn’t finished as Black Widow.

Moreover, even Kevin Feige recently teased it.

In other words, there’s still room for Johansson to return to her team, back from the dead.

Beyond that, we wonder how Belova and Burton will face off.

Marvel Studios cast Pugh in Hawkeye on Disney Plus.

This cliffhanger proceeds there.

It’s all connected.

Really.
