Anya Taylor-Joy is apparently in talks to be the new Harley Quinn for Matt Reeves’ The Batman franchise. It’s been reported that they’ve begun discussions.
The Batman has just ignited theaters. Although Warner Bros. doesn’t know the weekend box-office numbers yet, they’re convinced to move forward.
Specifically, DC Films will greenlight a sequel to The Batman.
In other words, The Batman is a hit. Specifically, the studio expects The Batman to grab between $100 to $125 million on opening weekend.
However, will the film have legs? We will see in the coming days.
Reeves and lead star Robert Pattinson have admitted that they look forward to seeing a sequel to The Batman.

Reeves has already laid the foundation of his own version of Gotham.
Now it’s with a Penguin series in early development.
In addition, with Barry Keoghan’s the Joker, we’re sure that the filmmakers want to explore more of what the Dark Knight has to offer. In fact, Pattinson already expressed his interest in bringing in the “Death in the Family” story line.
True, this might be too early as we really haven’t established who Robin will be. After all, it’s a tale that everyone knows can’t be rushed.
Anya Taylor-Joy could be the Harley Quinn in Reeves’ pocket universe. Even though Anya Taylor-Joy won’t be in the DCEU, she’s still following Margot Robbie. That’s a very large shoe to fill.
Robbie popularized and defined Harley Quinn just a few years ago with David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. In fact, she’s the most memorable part in that entire movie. Robbie even returned to the role in Birds of Prey and James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

As far as most fans think, Robbie is Harley Quinn.
But Anya Taylor-Joy is a versatile actress with roles like The Queen’s Gambit, The New Mutants, and Emma.
Moreover, Anya Taylor-Joy contributed wonderful voice work on The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. She will voice Princess Peach in the upcoming untitled Mario CG film.
It may seem that Anya Taylor-Joy may be looking for a franchise. She did join The New Mutants. Fox planned The New Mutants to kick off a series of movies. After Disney acquired Fox, they cancelled those ideas.
Anya Taylor-Joy has the distinct look that can work as the Joker’s obsessed psychiatrist and lover. In The Batman, Reeves set a new world separate from the DCEU. Therefore, there’s nothing stopping Robbie returning as Harley Quinn.
Anya Taylor-Joy as Harley Quinn is not final at this time. Depending on how successful The Batman turns out, we might see Anya Taylor-Joy as the new version of Harley Quinn.
