Wolverine To Engage In Violent Fight With Predator

Written By Kieran Bugg • U.K. Editor

Wolverine will soon take on the Predator in an upcoming Marvel Comics series which spans across decades. Out of all of Marvel’s more darker and violent heroes, the one who ultimately stands out the most is Wolverine.

Even before he was brought into live-action by Hugh Jackman in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movies, Wolverine had always been one of the more popular and well-known superheroes out there. While the X-Men have always been a fan favorite, Wolverine has always been considered the favorite of the team.

In addition, he, along with Spider-Man and the Hulk, were originally considered to be the holy trinity of Marvel before Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor’s popularity skyrocketed.

Nonetheless, it looks like the berserk mutant will finally meet his match in one of cinema’s most horrifying and deadliest creatures. There’s been multiple iconic movie monsters over the years, but only a few have a significant impact on pop-culture history.

One of which being the titular villain of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s classic ’80s action movie, Predator. Terrifying viewers for nearly 40 years, the alien species known as the Yautja are undoubtedly among the hardest creatures to kill and, much like Wolverine, are near enough unstoppable.

Moreover, the nightmarish hunters have even come to blows with another iconic movie alien.

In 2004, the Yautja went to war with the equally powerful Xenomorphs in Alien vs. Predator.

However, the Predator is set to meet its match in an upcoming Marvel Comics crossover series which will see the creature take on a certain mutant.

Wolverine.

Co-created by writers Roy Thomas and Len Wein and artist John Romita Sr., Wolverine debuted in The Incredible Hulk No. 180 in 1974.

Marvel Comics has released two teaser images for the highly anticipated four-issue event, which is set to go on sale on September 20th.

Writer Benjamin Percy explained his decision to make this crossover possible:

I’m not going to say I was born to write this crossover… but sometimes the universe reveals why you were created, I am a child of the eighties. I cannot tell you how many times I watched Predator, just as I cannot tell you how many Wolverine comics I have read, because that would be like telling you how many breaths I’ve taken or cheeseburgers I’ve eaten.

He continued:

The mythologies of both are ingrained in me so deeply they might as well be strands of DNA or wisps of soul. The guns, claws, beef, and blood of both franchises have been stewing in my brain since 1987 when I read myself to sleep every night with a stack of Marvel comics an lier with time, neither will have time to bleed, but you better make time to read, because I’m putting everything I’ve got into this event, and I’m thrilled to join forces with some of the best artists in the business.

There’s no way of telling who’ll win this fight but one thing’s for sure.

Wolverine’s definitely lucky to have a healing factor.
